Ninja is running well and is in good racing shape.

Fairing has road rash; Bike was gone through by Gerry Piazza to make sure bike/frame is straight.

Fully safety wired… race body work, full race exhaust and re-jetted; Superplush put in cartridge emulators and springs; also has a few other basic track stuff like galpher brake line, rear sets, and clip ons.

Bike passed AFM tech at every round in 2012 ... placed third overall in AFemme Moto Novice Championship in 2012 ...

Bill of Sale only ... was a racebike when we purchased it from a racer in 2011.
Best use is as an AFM racebike or track day bike ...
Bike may be seen in San Francisco ...

Up for sale is a set of lightly used motorcycle boots, calf height. I bought them from the previous owner on ADVrider and they turned out to be a size too small. Excellent quality product, retails for over 300$

Boots are about 4 years old, have light wear, but are still in great shape. Would be keeping them and wearing them if they were just a tad bigger.

PM is fine, or text me at FiverOneZero 754 FiverTreeSeven8
Or call after 6pm.

Asking 150$ for my BARF brethren. Pick up in Outer Richmond or Marina

Using high-tech dashboards, drivers can reference navigation systems and voice control in the comfort of a quiet car, but motorcyclists still don't have an effective, high-tech solution. Referencing maps requires a roadside stop, and GPS systems can be distracting.

Now, the team at LiveMap is looking to fund a project that would bring built-in navigation and augmented reality to helmets. Think Google Glass in helmet form.

The motorycle helmet, which is currently listed on crowdfunding site Indiegogo, comes with technology and features so powerful only fighter pilots currently have access. The project already has the financial backing and support from the Moscow Department of Science and several other Russian organizations, but LiveMap is looking for additional funding to get it up and running.

Similar to F-35 fighter jet helmets, a colorful, translucent picture would project onto the visor and create a clear, unobstructed view. It would come with its own interface — not iOS or Android — and prevent users from watching videos or playing games while riding.

I rolled out of Lower Haight on Friday at 11 am to head up to Reiff Road to try to find Buck Island and camp for a couple of nights ...

Here's a rough map of some of the route over the weekend ... Buck Island to Anchor Cove ...

I'd never been to Buck Island, but had seen the signpost many times up on the top of the ridge along Rayhouse Road ... I knew I'd be able to find a place to camp up there, even if I didn't make it to Buck Island ...

I took 101N to 37 to Napa to Lake Berryessa and met fellow BARFer Anthony on his '07 FZ6 at Spanish Flat, where we were taking a break along with a CHP and Sheriff's Dept. officers ... getting ready to keep order at the Berryessa GP, I suppose ... :laughing

The gate at Reiff Road was unlocked and I was soon plunging down to Davis Creek Reservoir ... UC Davis calls the area the area the McLaughlin Natural Reserve, where they do studies on the effects of mercury in the environment ... lots of information on their website about the area ...

The plunge down to Davis Creek Reservoir on Rayhouse Road ... fun ...

I made the left at the top of the ridge at the Buck Island, 5 miles sign ...

Buck Island ...

Getting off the bike to walk the road a bit to make sure I didn't get into a jackpot with the heavy KLR, I met a guy who was hiking around to scout the area for the hunting season ... he told me Buck Island is famous for the large black bears that may be found there ... Buck Island is located along a portion of Cache Creek that cuts through a rugged, remote area between Routes 20 and 16, so there isn't a paved highway along either side of the river ...

Buck Island is on BLM land, so you can shoot there ... I met Louis and Jose from San Leandro at the campground ... they'd come in from Morgan Valley Road in a Chevy Tahoe pulling a trailer for their quad, and were shooting Louis's AR-15 ... they told me they'd been coming to Buck Island for many years and that it is much harder to get to now that they've closed the zero-ton causeway ... that river rafting people no longer use it as a put-in, and that they had not seen a ranger back there for many years ...

The route to Buck Island from Morgan Valley Road past Davis Creek Reservoir ...

There was lots of water in Cache Creek, good for a swim! :ride

Sadly, my Dad bought the newest compound from Chris about a month ago. He rode in D group for a half a track day then went home. We figured out after that he must of got a fuggin piece of saftey wire in his tire because it leaked out. Chris found the hole, and replaced the tire.

So if anyone would like to plug it and use it for street duty, or maybe even on a supermoto bike its basically brand new. The chicken strips go up to the center of the tire :laughing

I just got a call from a friend saying she just saw/heard a strange thing.

She was crossing the street with a girlfriend in the city and they walked by a BMW motorcycle (only detail she was certain of) and she instantly noticed that it was silent. I asked if it was maybe just a very quiet exhaust, but she said, no, that it was a pretty quiet side street and she was absolutely sure the motorcycle was sitting there at the red light completely silent.

To add to that, because she noticed right away that it wasn't making any noise, the rider, who noticed her quizzical look, said, "It's magic!" with what she said was an obvious big smile on his partially obscured, full-face helmeted head.

As they passed in the crosswalk, the light turned green, and still half looking back, she saw him twist the throttle and the bike then took off with what she said sounded like a "regular motorcycle sound" She said it didn't sound particularly loud, but also she noticed that it didn't make the gear change shift noises either, and their was no sound of a starting motorcycle as if maybe he shutdown for some reason at the light.

She being not motorcycle-centric I got very few clues like if it had a muffler, what the model number on the side was, chain or shaft, etc So I'm going on minimal data. Only that it was a BMW motorcycle, it wasn't a sportbike and was upright position, and looked more like a standard.

I looked on the net and couldn't find anything meaningful for start/stop systems on anything but cars and some new Honda scooters so was wondering if BMW afficianados here knew more if there were start/stop systems on any of their bikes or mods to make one so (AC start systems with no reduction gears)

I was in my cage yesterday on Bryant street around 1:00 am and miscalculated the yellow light duration - and kind of sort of ended up in the middle of the intersection when the red was on. I saw the camera flash go off... so now I feel like there's a good chance I'm going to have a ticket showing up in my mailbox.

I've never gotten one of those before... anyone here have any experience with those? Are there any good strategies for disputing them? What is the fine? And does it go on your record / screw up your insurance? And a follow-up question to that is, anyone do the traffic school thing to avoid an insurance surcharge?

Hey BARF!

A local dealer offered me $5995 so if any one on BARF wants it for that you get dibs.

I'm selling my 2000 Nissan 2WD 5 speed Xterra.
It has:
new tires (less than 1000 miles) with transferrable road hazard warranty
new timing belt/ water pump/ belts (scheduled service at 104K but I do things early)
New clutch at 87,000 miles (some idiot trying to back a trailer up a steep hill)
good stereo with usb port and bluetooth
tow package

This truck has NEVER let me down (even after I fried the clutch it got me home)

I have never missed having the 4WD as the 2WD has the same ground clearance and is a torquey little thing when it comes to visiting some of my favorite campsites.

If anyone is interested let me know ASAP-leaving the country Sunday morning.
