SUN 3/11 Lake Barryessa/Knoxville/Rayhouse Rd.

Nice ride! Good bunch of riders, nice route, and we beat the weather!

After Terry & I bailed, we headed to Lower Lake for lunch and then up to Hwy 20 and then down Hwy16 right into the middle of Capay Valley's annual Almond Festival. Every Yolo County Sheriff was there as well as a few CHP...ugh!

Here's a couple of teaser photos:

What a great ride! The rain we did receive was just enough to keep the dust down, traction was good and very predictable. My get off was due to grabbing too much from my front 320 rotor in the dirt during our first dirt section. Forgot to moderate my finger from street to dirt braking.

All of yous who bailed due to weather missed out on a perfect day in the dirt and the twisty sections coming back around the lake were awesome.

Great people, great roads, great dirt sections = Awesome ride cubed.:party

I am indeed! :wow :hail

But I wanna know if the Mrs. was still smiling after Rayhouse Road. :teeth

Looked like Sabrina was having fun! She was very expressive at the Cache Creek 'Zero Ton' bridge. Alex's 'better half' wondered how we organized this 'interesting ride' :p I believe they hit the Cache Creek Casino right after the ride...

We tried to put all of the bikes and riders (except for mine... too risk averse) on the bridge to test true load bearing capacity.

So that's why the middle of the bridge NOW looks lower than the sides. :teeth

24 photos with proof you were there: Start (Poser's @ CA-121/CA-128) to Finish (Cache Creek bridge): http://www.meetup.com/CoCoFreewheelers-RC/photos/6621532/#100897682

Alex, Dan (olhogrider), Greg (Star_Man), and Sean (Mr. Junior) took videos. Bill (Excite-Bike) took photos... or at least thats what I observed while bringing up the sweep.

Bummed I couldn't make it out. I had this silly thing called school and work all this weekend. Looks like it was quite a success which makes me even more frustrated!

+1 really bummed I missed this, but I was moving this weekend. And looks like I'll miss the next month's too because I've got family stuff that weekend. :cry

That Girlie shouldn't be eyeing that manly Steamer, not when Sid's Katoom 990 ADV

is in front surrounded by a crowd of KiLRs
:sex That's too much R-rated activity for one ride.

I say we ride the dirt sections backwards after gassing up in Cache Creek Casino. That would be funner then slabbing it back for over an hour ? Those who would want to would at least have an option. :thumbup

Sid you're the route planner (don't blame me for these crazy routes; they're Sid's ideas): Let's do it! on Saturday 4/7

Hope the Reiff Rd. gate isn't closed when we get there or we'll have to lift/ride the bikes over.

Proposed Rt. Same meet up place: Suisun Valley Rd. to CA-121 to CA-128 to Rd-89 to CA-16 (Fuel up at Cache Creek Casino: Backup meeting point) to Cache Creek to Rd. 40 to Morgan Valley Rd to Knoxville OHV to Knoxville Berryessa Rd. to CA-128 to CA-121 back to Start point on I-80.

Hopefully plan something for Mendocino NF and Georgetown later this Summer/Fall.

other than the 2nd Sunday of the month ride; I'll be in:

  • [*]Death Valley for WARPED VIII (4/13-15).
    [*]Some of us will be doing the Annual Mendo NF Rally (5/3-6),
    [*]Sheetiron 300 (5/19-20), and
    [*]Yosemite (5/5-6);
    [*]Wildwood 400 (6/23-24);
    [*]Topaz 600 (7/13-15);
    [*]1st Annual Lake Tahoe MC Adventure ride (8/23-26);
    [*]Reno 200 (9/15-16); and
    [*]LA-Barstow-Las Vegas day after Thanksgiving.

BTW - Thanks to Paul AKA ridepjride and his friends for hauling rodr out of the ditch while Banjoboy was getting help.
