Longest lasting rear tire??

I got 12-15k. Grip was fine for me year 'round. I can't account for the discrepancy, but don't think I was blessed.

i have pilot road 2s on my 1125 that have about 6K on them and still have plenty of tire left. mix used of commute, touring and technical road miles.

also youve seen me take a turn in them in the rain.

It doesn't matter what tires I put on, I get 3000 out of a rear, and 5000 out of a front. Dunlop, Bridgestone, Michelin, Pirelli, same, same.

How the hell does anyone get so many miles out of a 100++ hp bike? I could never get more than 4k out of a rear on a sport bike and often it was no more than 2k.

As for car tires... don't do it, yo. I don't give a damn what anyone says, I've SEEN what they do on a twisty road, and it is fucking frightening.

Michelin Pilot Road. The original, not the Road 2. Wears like granite.

I second that. I put a new Pilot Road (original) on the Bandit before the Alaska trip in 2010. That was 20k ago, it's finally about done.

ME 880. Fits your criteria to a "T"

I've got a set on my bike right now. 11,000 miles of heavy touring and commuting. Just now starting to show a slight flat spot around the middle.

:dunno

Yeah, that's an unloaded, static tire. That's NOT AT ALL what it looks like in real life. The sidewall flexes like crazy and at times looks like it's going to be pulled off the rim. The rim sometimes looks like it wants to go one way and the tread another. You go from huge contact patch to riding on the sidewall in a few degrees. Yeah, you will be riding on the sidewall at moderate lean angles. You know... the part of the tire that wasn't designed to meet the road?

Sorry, but that picture series is totally misleading and not at all indicative of how a car tire on a motorcycle behaves at all.

Maybe if one rides like a total puss and is more concerned about their tire's life than their own ass, go for it. I always thought it was a bad idea and seeing it in action confirmed my suspicions.

I imagine turning and feel sucks as well.

+1 more or less. If I get 5 K out of a back tire it's party time! :party

And a HUGE +1 I don't care if some clown says he's run down sportbikes on the dragon on them, it's a bad idea. Hell, I've run down sportbikes on Hwy 36 on a KLR running dualsport tires. It doesn't mean they grip for shit. The whole idea reflects a serious misunderstanding of how the requirements for bike tires and car tires differ.

Yes, they all worked. If you don't ride like you're racing all the time you'd be surprised how much mileage you can get out of a tire.

:laughing Why would I buy a stump pulling diesel caltrain beast of a bike if I didn't wanna ride hard. What I need is a long lasting tire that doesn't stick too well to offset all my power.
I just ordered the pilot one for $119OTD. I'll try the other ones later. I'm sure ill get a huge nail as soon as I put it on. Please continue arguing about car tires.

the old Continental Road Attacks were decent high mileage good in the rain tires. don't know how the update fares, but probably similar.

Just stop by the track and grab old takeoffs.

No grip? Check.

Free? Check.

Long lasting? Whatever. They're free. :party

Metzeler ME880's are probably your longest wearing tire option.

Limited sportbile sizes though, 120/70/17 front and 170/60/17 or 200/50/17 rears.
