CHP Moto officer injured

ouch. motorcycles are replaceable. wish him speedy recovery

Glad to hear everyone will be ok.

"Riding too fast for conditions" is what they'd say if it were a citizen on the m/c, regardless of what bonehead move the car may have pulled.

I'll also take this time to thank the stars the Amgen didn't go through Santa Cruz this year. Last year the SC Mtn stage went past my house & I can tell you I was neither cheering nor thrilled.

Its a little bit different when you have your code 3 lights on and the car ahead of you slows then turns as you go to pass

Did the driver claim not to see the bike, as usual?

Nope. Probably a decade ago my dad was in a crash on Grizzly Peak where a driver pulled to the side of the road and then did a U turn. The driver was determined to be at fault.

...and the car is a Mercedes - seems like a lot people who drive them have a sense of entitlement; they are more important than anybody else on the road...
I've noticed it too; many who drive high-end cars seem to drive w/little regard to other drivers nearby. I professionally drove almost a million miles between the early 70's & early 80's, & I noticed it constantly.

This not to knock anyone w/a Bentz', hell I almost bought one once. I ended up w/a used 320i BMW we had for like a decade (wife's car.) But I always noticed the higher-end folks (see $80K+ cages) always seemed to drive w/o the common courtesy most show each other. Seen lots of them wrecked too; I suspect because of that....

.

Luckily there was a very good witness to the collision who related exactly what occurred and there will be no question as to who is at fault.

If you are inferring that the officer is getting special treatment, you are wrong.

The injured officer's brother is an officer in my office. As soon as I have updated information that I can release, I will.
