Skaggs Ride

Warning: This MGR ride is a bit different than usual. We are riding ALL DAY. 300+ miles today. Not suggested for anyone with under 2K miles experience, or anyone who doesn't like to ride more than 100 miles in a day. Today's ride will last from 8AM till 8PM, plan for it. We will make pit stops and a lunch stop on the way, but will be a much longer ride, with fewer stops. Gas options will be available every 100 miles or so. If you can't go that far... bring a gas can. :) Any questions or concerns, PM or post up.

Things to know:
  • Arrive with a full tank of gas. We are meeting near a gas station. Easy fill up there.
  • Make sure your bike is in good operating condition. (Chain lubed? Check tire pressure?)
  • As usual we will break into groups depending on who shows up (to accommodate varying skill levels) if necessary.
  • Everyone is expected to ride within their comfort level.
  • Safety is our priority.
  • Experienced riders who wants to ride a mellow pace are always welcome.
  • Volunteers for lead and sweep always welcome and appreciated.
  • We will be making a few planned stops to regroup and stretch any sore legs.
  • All riding levels are welcome, Mellow pace required. PM or post if you have concerns.
  • All riders are expected to have a basic understanding of our planned route.

  • We will NEVER have a “A pace” group. Drag knees? No. Find a different ride.
  • You can't ride without getting an 'achievement award'.... Find a different ride.

Route: (approx 300+ miles, 7 hours seat time + Pit stops + lunch)

2nd stop is marked as "B" for me, and its on the way up north in the morning.

Guessing the map isn't showing correctly for you, for some reason.

If i'm not all beat up from Friday's track day!

Hey Bryan, the Golden Gate Vista is only accessible from the south. Is there possibly a meet spot for those that live in the Northbay? Thanks!! And I'm in if I can get the day off.

IN - I really want to see what Skaggs road is all about ... I have ridden it only from Stewarts point in about 10 miles and was unimpressed ... Then I found out you have to go past the "bridge"... so this will be my "past the bridge ride "

Any pie on this route ? LOL

You better get the day off dude

oh man, i hope my hand is healed in time for this ride. I guess a 300 mile ride will give me that answer won't it.

Bummer, I'll be at Thill. have fun!

For north bay riders, you can meet us at the Arco gas staion, here.

I would guess we will be there (and stop for a top off on fuel, so we are all reset) around 9:45am, so be there by 9:30am and gas up.

Meet spot 3:
Arco
251 Shoreline Hwy Mill Valley, CA 94941
9:30AM

Beyond the bridge is where you find the golden ticket! I'm in. HWY 1 is fun too if the traffic isn't bad

The question is when isn't traffic bad on 1 on the weekends ? (hence Revs Marin Tuesday rides :) - love em .... )

And I got the day off, so I'm in!! Plus I'll probably do it again on the following Tuesday since it's such a great ride!

Just a warning about Skaggs, went on it for the barryessa run today and there is a section of the road (both sides) that have whats seems to be new tar snakes. These were very slippery and I was sliding around at the speed limit to +5.

I'm there. Sounds like the perfect way to spend a saturday. I'll probably break off at the end of Sonoma Co. on the way south since I live in sonoma.

Oh and if anyone in the sonoma Co area wants to meet up for the ride down to mill valley let me know.
