Just to be clear on this, the problem is with the implementation of HTML emails in the client, not the actual encrypted emails per se. If you read them in text-only, they're safe.

Also, to be super clear, as with many exploits, there's a LOT of setup involved comprising of several compromised systems before this can happen. Very unrealistic here, but if you're S/MIMEing your email against a hostile state actor, bets are off. (And, no, despite everything, Google and Yahoo are not hostile state actors.)
