San Leandro has ammo limits (no fmj or magnetic rifle ammo)

livermore has the range divided into rifle side - sitting , firing from a bench only, and pistol, standing only

and shottys at the lower section

separate entry fees ($20 ?) for each

front desk peeps and range masters are pretty friendly

You work there or something? I'll go to Richmond.

Livermore with the closure of Chabot and USI are simply gouging their customers because they can, it's sad.

Saw this in my rifle club's forum, damn there's been a lot of changes.

Quote:
Milspec Armory on Meridian Ave , San Jose, is now closed except for pick ups on prior gun transfers, official Sept 28th. I have invited Ari to come speak @ GS2AC on Thursday Sept 27 to inform us of what San Jose City did to him, to the extent he can / willing to discus it to help us watch for more in San Jose and new activity in other cities.

Jackson Arms range and store in South SF is Closing(-ed)

Bullseye range and store in San Rafael closed and left thier Castro Valley store keeping only thier Nevada store.
(But Solar Tactical took over the Castro Valley / East Bay store on Redwood Rd. Solar Tactical's first store is a great little shop in east Livermore east of Lawrence Livermore research complex)

Chabot Rod and Gun club, formerly running the East Bay MUD Chabot regional park range, closed permanently two years ago. It was one of the (then) only three Bay Area public or public club membership accessible ranges with a distance over 100 yards.
Santa Clara's county Metcalf 200 range remains open to clubs and public (one Sunday/month)
And there is a members only/ match 200 yd range at Richmond Rod & Gun
If Petaluma coastal ranch Two Rock range has reopened it USED to be up to 300 yards

The San Jose Coyote Point Sheriffs range may re-open to its old , pre remodel, public hours some weeknights and Saturday's for juniors.

Kerleys of Cupertino consolidated thier operations at what is U S Firearms co in Sunnyvale, after Sunnyvale Measure C , passed 2013, caused original owner, Eric F to step away. Harry Dwyer consolidated his old business and Eric's at the Sunnyvale location, 590 S Mary Ave at El Camino Real. (They remain closed Thursday's, Sunday's and Mondays open Tue-Wed and Fri- Sat. They have extensive gunsmithing capabilities

training, a new air pistol juniors training, a Free Second Saturday Outreach intro to
handguns clinic, a Pink Pistols range day, BayProfs Classes and an Action Pistol group. Santa Clara County Metcalf County range, shotgun sports, rifle/Pistol outdoor ranges and
200 yard outdoor rifle / Match range, with SCVRC and SC Zouaves club hosted days

There may be other ranges in Sonoma, Napa and Salano counties, in the North SF Bay Area I don't know about.
There may be Boy/Girl Scout, 4H , ROTC and Private gun ranges not listed herein left in the SF Bay Area.
Not included herein are ranges in San Benito , Santa Cruz and Monterey counties frequented by Bay Area gun owners.

USI in Concord currently trap and skeet only, with multipurpose range open to .22LR only on weekends. No rifle/pistol range.

I was in my local (Reno, NV) gun store the other day and they had a sign that said they had been asked by some gubbmint agency (I forget which) not to sell high-capacity magazines to California residents. That is some bullshit.

So if you are in Nevada to buy stuff, park out of sight of the shop and don't look like a tourist.

Pay cash too I guess. Are they asking to see IDs? Could possibly just pay cash and say don’t have DL on them. That’s pretty weak if they are asking for ID.

Also, California has the $$ to pay to have some cronies parked and watching? Never thought that would have happened.

Man, sucks for you guys. Here in NC I can shoot any number of places any day of the week. Can choose between many fun matches every weekend, and during the week, too!
At my private membership range (180$ a year) I can: shoot lots of steel, run around with my AR's/pistols/shotguns in large open bays. Shoot off a bench out to 330 yards. Large pistol and shotgun bays you can set up any kind of targets wherever you want, etc etc. Shoot with movement and draw from a holster, etc. Fun stuff.
Have two places I can shoot out to 1000+ yards locally. Sporting clays, 3gun, 2gun, USPSA, Steel challenge. Anything you could want or imagine.
Best decision I ever made was to move! Don't miss it at all, and don't even feel the need to visit.
An expensive house here is 5-600,00 and a cheap one is 150. Nicer people, too. Sorry to be Debbie Downer, but damn, CA has really went to shit. Feel bad for you guys. The leftists have ruined it and are spreading like lice. And, I always considered myself pretty dang liberal.

They've followed/tracked people who did it before, gotten a warrant to search their house, and gotten a conviction. This was before USSC said a GPS tracker needed a warrant.

It's ridiculous. It's like the pot shop having a sign saying, "Due to requests from law enforcement, no sales to Utah residents."

I've been an NRA member almost continuously since I was 24, so that is decades of support, petition signings, several additional donations in addition to the membership fees, and just a general acknowledgement of a positive influence they have on 2A issues.

It's only in this last year that I've been seriously considering cancelling my membership. I've spent a long time listening to and laughing at the anti-gun stance that the "All powerful" NRA lobbying is the prime player in keeping gun rights intact while also being the major cause of mass shootings thru its vast influence in keeping scary guns in circulation and available to the public. I think the estimation of the NRAs clout is VASTLY overestimated.

I need to do some more in depth research from credible sources, but the allegations in a specific instance that the NRA actually conceded it's position on gun rights (gave owners up) in the instance of bump fire stocks, reacting immediately to the wave of emotion following the Las Vegas shooting, saying that they should be illegal and actually making a statement that the ATF should be given broader rights to interpret existing restrictions to INCLUDE bump fire stocks. Does anyone else see the dangerous precedent here?! The ATF already agreed that bump fire stocks were legal years prior. To have them suddenly broaden the interpretation of them to fit into existing restriction is not just a slippery slope, its the demolishing of the dam. If a person used a versamax 11 round competition tactical shotgun in a shooting, spraying a public area with hundreds of 00 pellets, would the NRA then give the ATF carte blanche to outlaw my trap and skeet shotguns? Saying it was effectively an Assault Weapon because it could fire so many "Projectiles" per second?

In the 80's I thought the NRA was nuts to fight against the call for laws restricting Tec-9's, Mac-10's, Saturday night specials etc; thinking "who the hell needs those?!" Now I understand decades later that that fight was not against the ridiculous weapons themselves, but against a tide of gun restriction that could ONLY become more widespread. In such a fight, you couldn't pick and choose the fights, you have to fight ALL calls for restrictions however small or illogical they might seem at the time, because each restriction led to yet another restriction that was as irreversible as a temporary bridge toll hike.

I don't see the NRA taking these stances anymore, and not for some time. I see them bending to the will of the uninformed, and emotional in order to maintain the influence and revenue they still have. They pour so much effort into the membership campaigns and yet the emails I get from them (and there are many) show woefully little that they do to stop or even hinder gun ownership restrictions. Their emails all seem to be of the "Oh well, we tried, keep up the good fight", or, "We need your money"

I don't like their new messages and ad campaigns about the "Us vs Them" ilk either with the ominous music and snarky, authoritarian mouthpieces either. I would rather flood them with logic and facts rather than religion and emotion.

I've made a pact. If the NRA is substantially involved in repealing the California Handgun Roster, which is CLEAR violation of the 2A, I will happily re-up, and until then I will continuously tell my anti gun friends who harp on the NRA like they are the devil incarnate with vast powers, that the NRA has nothing to do with anything, and in several cases, the ACLU has sided with the NRA on important issues/

I'm keeping an open mind though. Any solid reasons why I should stay an NRA member?

Some ranges and clubs require NRA membership.

NRA is the largest gun control group in the country. They authored the 1968 legislation. Buncha Fudds who would trade your bump stock or detachable magazine for their ability to drink alcohol at the trap range.
