Where can I get track tires in San Jose?

I shouldn't have waited till the last day... Long weekend, track day this coming weekend, no tires on my ride.

Any shop around San Jose area? I'd like to support local, plus talk to a tire expert about tire selection. I've ran GPAs for one year, forgot all about them, open to change to other brands.

Thanks!

your best bet is probably at the track. the provider should have a tire service. call them and make sure they'll have the size and compound that u want.

other than that, u could probably get some takeoffs from someone next week. I could mail u some slicks

If you have a couple of days to work with, you can order Pirellis through Santa Clara Cycle Accessories and they can have them for you in one business day. SCC will install the tires for free.

It's been a few years, but I once also went directly to Pirelli distributor in Santa Cruz and bought a set of tires had them install the tires

The best performance upgrade is upgrading the operating system of the operator. It is cheap, easy, fast, safe and works on every bike you will ever ride.

I went to Santa Clara Cycle on Saturday, the girl at the counter told me they don't do race/slick tires (no stock and they don't do orders). The only track tire they have or can order are Q4s. Though I was asking Dunlops, I do not know if it is the same for Pirellis.

Worst case if I can't get Dunlops/Pirellis locally, I'll go with Q4s.

If you were local, I'd take them

Probably there is a tire service but don't want to wait till the last day to get rubber on the tires. I like to take my time to work on the bike (aka I'm a slow mechanic)

Called both, Racepace motorsports has Michelin in stock. Catalyst stocks Pirelli, both slicks and supercorsas.

Thanks for the tips!

Going forward, try RMC Moto in Santa Clara. Owner is a BARFer and trackday whore.

Called RMC, they don't have stock but can order. Can't make it for this weekend though, cool dude on the phone directed me somewhere else (CT racing? something like that). I'll give them a try for next set of tires.

Got some Pirellis SC1/SC2 at Catalyst! The guy/gal at the shop were amazing, they took their time to tell me about pressures, temperatures, differences between the Dunlops I was using, etc. I haven't been on the track for 2 years (except a month ago at Laguna on a Tiger 800... it really doesn't count), can't wait to get back to it. Thanks to all!

CT Racing is a race tire vendor. I bet it's where the other shops in the area get their race tires.
