CA State Parks OHV Grants Program

OHMVR Division Grants Public Comments Period Started Yesterday
http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1164
Public Comment Period G17 Grant Cycle

The public review and comment period for the 2017/18 Grants and Cooperative Agreements Program begins Tuesday, March 6, 2018, and ends at 5:00pm (Pacific Standard Time) on Monday, April 2, 2018. This period provides an opportunity for the public to review and provide comments to the preliminary applications submitted to the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division for consideration during the 2017/18 grant cycle.
The Division’s On-Line Grants Application (OLGA) database allows the public to view preliminary applications in a centralized location and to provide public comments.
To view preliminary applications and to provide public comments click HERE...

EDIT!!! I figured it out...
Instructions to comment:

1. You need to first identify an agency to comment on; “Santa Clara County Parks” and “National Youth Project using Minibikes” would be a couple to support. Haters (Center for Sierra Nevada Conservation) would be another to comment on. You can review the agencies ( http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=29826 ) and see what the existing comments are. The haters are “NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS” as are the good guys.
2. Go to http://olga.ohv.parks.ca.gov/egrams_...user/home.aspx
3. Click on “Review Preliminary Applications” (line eight) in the box/ column on the left hand side, that gets you here http://olga.ohv.parks.ca.gov/egrams_...wProjects.aspx
4. Click on the three dot icon in the middle of the page, line two in the box after agency
5. Enter the agency name and click on the “Lookup” button
6. Click on the box on the left hand side of the “record” that came up
7. Click on the file card icon on the right hand side under "Public Comments" (you are chosing which the grant application to comment on, some agencies have many)
8. Enter your name, your email and your comment
9. Click on the “Send Email” button
10. Repeat if you want to coment on that agency's other applications

The comment program appears to be similat to what we did last year, with equally confusing instructions.

http://olga.ohv.parks.ca.gov/egrams_...user/home.aspx

Edit: I saw Portola Valley is applying for monies to support their thriving OHV opportunities.

Yes, I'm sure that PV is dying to have green stickers riding all over their trails.

How can PV be applying for anything? They do not allow OHVs.
Edit: It is the City of Portola, not Portola Valley. City of Portola is over near Reno in the Sierras, they want to set up a staging area with restrooms, etc on 30 acres.

Butch, thanks for posting. I'm working on figuring out how to submit comments.

I don't see any areas near us in the list of Agencies. Maybe they aren't all listed yet?

Last year the web instructions for comment were shit.

I just got this from the BRC:

...The public may provide comments to both the applicant and the OHMVR Division by emailing Cody Nicholes at cnicholes@fs.fed.us and copying the OHMVR Division at ohvinfo@parks.ca.gov.

This just in from our Metcalf pals:
To view our applications, visitors need to go to: http://olga.ohv.parks.ca.gov/egrams_...wProjects.aspx then look up our Agency (the box with the 3 dots next to “Agency”, search for “Santa Clara”, where they can view our applications, and have the option to leave public comments. Instructions are attached in PDF, however you will need to provide the link above because the link is NOT contained in the PDF instructions.

If we share our comments here with each other it makes it easier too.

The anti-OHV folks get lots of this money:

"Karen Schambachs group, Center for Sierra Nevada Conservation, is requesting grant funds again.
They're requesting $576,493.00...

She's behind PEER too, and along with Celeste prolly the lead haters.
If everyone can point out folks we shouls comment on, it would be good.

Like for the haters, I'm just gonna say... "My family does not support this grant application. This group is misrepresenting themselves as protectors of the environment when they are really lobyists for wealthy landowners.""

Our government caters to those who get involved. Hopefully not just the ones who give them money.
This can all change when the assholes die and the youg folks, computer savey, all vote...

I figured out the instructions and made three comments for Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation, ie, Metcalf.

I'll put instructions in the first pane.

I just did a comment for California Trail Users Coalition:

Please support this organization as they add to the enjoyment of of our parks and outdoors, as well as providing a safer environment for the flora and fauna and humans.

It took under two minutes. I timed it.

Do you guys like Cow Mountain? You can help them.

I am about to comment on Friends of Cow Mountian grant proposal...

Thier FriendFace guy said: "Thanks for your support of Friends of Cow Mountain. We have submitted 3 grant applications this year. One is to continue to maintain whitethorn trail, the second is to do some maintenance on acupuncture trail, and the third is a grant to do a bunch of brushing. Check them out on the "Olga site" and any comments are appreciated. Thank you!"

I just posted this for Metcalf's "Education and Safety" grant
"Education can save the world. We are doomed if people do no understand the interdependence of the flora and fauna and geography. This is taught in a structured way with the Junior Ranger Program, as well as in chats between rangers and riders, and between riders in difficult situations.

Educated riders become stewards of the land. We are environmentalists."

I should do another on safety...

And this...
Please support this grant. Education helps everyone understand what safety equipment is available and what it can do. Being educated of the discomfort and of the life changing consequences possible without correct gear is a tremendous help for some individuals.
