how do MLS teams manage to pay for salaries, equipment, operating costs, etc? is it all team sponsorship? do they get paid by the stadiums as well as the league? id be willing to bet there are lots of revenue streams for MLS teams, way more than a MA team. no one ever said "how do u make 1 million $$ running a pro soccer team - start with 2 million."

theres plenty of talent willing to race here. Claudio Corti wants back in for example. but whos he going to ride for? even if he rode for free, there are no bikes. Herrin currently has no ride and hes an ex-SBK champ. sure, they arent Rossi level talent. but they are better than most. right now, MA is made up of the LA Galaxy, NY RedBulls, and NO ONE ELSE. how do we even start new teams if the system is broken.

Yeah, pretty brutal that Herrin, Corti, Fong, etc don't even have a bike they can ride, let alone money to buy soup if they rode it.

Hopefully this Ducati team come to fruition, and at least one of those guys gets a seat, but there are only a few guys earning even a meager living. IIRC, Hayes was earning about 500k per season a few years ago. But he's obviously a big outlier when talking salary for road racing in the US.

Chances of that factory supported Duc team making it to the grid this year are nonexistent. Spies couldn't come up w the money. Who else could...

Haha... Yeah, that's a real bummer. The factory(ies?) are testing next week for 2018 and lots of guys don't even know if they can get a ride anywhere (SBK). Scholtz looks like he can be legit fast on an SBK, but aside from him (which we still don;t know if the Westby bike can compete with Yamaha factory) doesn't seem like anyone is gonna challenge the two factory teams for podiums on any regular basis.

Then JD is the only rider for factory Yamaha on 600s, and unless the rule change has significantly impacted the competitiveness of that class, who's likely to walk away with the title?! I mean, how many times did Valentine beat JD heads up last year? Eh, not trying to sound like a downer, but I want to see more competitive racing and more riders getting sniffs at the podium.

I really hope the rules changes make for a great and closely contested season.

The Westby bike isn't a privateer bike. I expect Scholtz to be fast. But ya, there's no one else.

5 potential winners is pretty good actually. More than WSBK and same as GP this year. I expect Toni and Cam to take the bulk of wins. Roger and Gerloff will get a few, and Scholtz will prob have 1 or 2. That's makes for a great championship actually, esp if the points remain tight til the end.

It'd be nice to have 20 good SBKs and a strong midfield. Unfortunately, there are no American teams to do it. No one else has the $$. Shit, I hope there are at least 15 SBKs, but there might not be. It won't impact the TV show expect for the start. But it will impact the track show.

JD will very likely walk away w the title. IIRC, the Graves R6 bike isn't factory, but they haven't lost much of their advantage. It's his to lose. Oh wells. Hopefully the TV guys don't show him much and watch the battle for 3rd or lower like they did at Sonoma this year.

Oh, Josh Hook raced a BroastersChicken CBR at CVMA today. It's good news if that team is able to stick around without Gagne

An update on the Rickdiculous Race Team. The Rick team is one of the few team putting money into the sport. We just signed both Jason Aguilar and Hayden Gillim to 2 year deals, riding full on Graves R6s. We also are running Gauge Rees in the Jr Cup on a Graves R3.

We just finished our Nov training camp and we have huge off season plans, can't wait for 2018!

Great news. Makes the 600 class a lot more interesting with Hayden Gilliam on such a well supported team.

That's great news, sounds like a very strong team. Good to see Gauge move down to the R3 and continue his learning process.

Latus Motors out of MotoAmerica. Damn. Fong won six STK1000 races last year and ran up front with the Superbikes a few times. Sad to see this.

That sucks. Bobby is 100% a racer and gives all.

Latus gave great support to Bobby and MA

I am greatly saddened to see this.

Best wishes to both.

To add. Hopefully Bobby will land a ride. He is easily in the top 5 as far as talent in the series in my mind.

Kawasaki had a great leg up with this team and with existing tech from WSBK they could easily challenge for a championship with this team.

So bummed!!
