That's different... Sykes took care of his tires better than Rea.

But not too surprisingly, "Little Marco" took care of his tires best of all.

Race 2 for WSBK and the WSS race are both declared flag-to-flag if conditions are dry due to tire concerns. WSS race is shortened to 16 laps and riders will have to pit after nine laps for a tire change. WSBK riders will have to enter the pits after laps 10, 11 or twelve (rider/team choice) for a tire change.

The race was interesting enough. PJ's road ahead is long. The team is new to the Honda and new to Superbike and the Superbike Pirellis and PJ only had the two days at Jerez and two days at Phillip Island for off-season testing. If he can get in the top 12 or so by mid-season, that will be great progress.

Gagne is a little over a half a second of Camier so he's about where he should be at this point. Everything is still pretty new for him. The good news is he progressed in each session so far which is good.

Well, it looks like Pirelli got the word. "Make dem donuts more funkier - fool."

Now things are really different. How much h.p. will Kawasaki or Ducati make at 10,000 rpm?

PJ Jacobsen profile from SportRider.com.

Quote:
“I used the preseason tests to focus on getting familiar with the bike. The early races will be tough, but if we can continue to learn it will be positive. The electronics are going to be the most important thing for us to understand. I didn’t have any electronics on the bike when I raced in BSB, so I need to study them and learn how the bike works. The goal is to keep learning. It’s good to be with the team as we all use the electronics for the first time.

“If I’m realistic about this season, it really will be about showing what we can do in the second half of the year. There’s a lot to learn, and we’re a new team with a new bike. It’s going to take time, but when we get the electronics sorted and I start feeling like it’s my bike I’m sure that we’ll be able to have some good results.”

race2 looked good for a number of reasons:

[apparent] Ducati engine strength
MM33's major balls continuously reining in his Panigale
Camier giving his Honda the stick
Rea learning his new bike & tars to find the front
Team Barni's Fores taking it to the factory Ducs
[Barni ran the SBK EBRs, remember.....?]
PJ soldiering on with his new bike & tars
Laverty!

so, when's Thailand?

Huge changes. HUGE!
Ducati, Kawasaki, Kawasaki, Ducati.

It seems that Chaz was about to walk on the field when he was a tad late braking on half warm tires and lost the front? Then it could have been really unusual with Duc, Duc, Kawk, Kawk, Duc. (Gawda luvs the Kawking Ducs).Fores was there because he is riding the same bike, (supposedly by the new rules), as the Aruba dudes.

Maybe reverse starts with no rear brake for the fast bikes and 250 more rpm and a bike length head start, will get that BMW on the top of the podium. They are really fast outside of WSBK, so the rules aren't quite there, yet.

That head shake on Melandri's bike at almost 200 mph is insane, especially with him staying on the throttle and riding it out while passing other riders!

Then planning out and executing the pass at the line, Melandri had a banner weekend!

Little Marco needs a Scott's damper haha.

i wonder if the reason he was looking so squirrely on turn exit has to do with his weight. he's a small guy. even the eurosport announcers were lowkey making fun of him, saying he looked like a little kid on the bike compared to davies, or if it is just the difference in setup.

Finally caught race 1 and will watch 2 tonight. Somehow my DVR did not catch it on the first run through. Pretty enjoyable really. Seeing Rea not dominate was good and seeing Sykes being competitive was good.

Racing is Back, Rea Didnt Win - BrotoGP Ep. 85

Racing is officially back for the 2018 season with WorldSBK Round 1 at Phillip Island. Yes, we recorded a WSBK episode because A LOT of shit went down this weekend. #anyonebutrea came true for both races with Melandri taking the double. Kawi missed the setup and had a bunch of small problems that made it impossible for them to dominate. Rob gets a lot of air time talking about tires, as Pirelli screwed up big time with riders experiencing massive tire issues. He even goes over the WSBK rule changes and whether or not they did anything (yet). After all those WSBK shenanigans, we start talking about some riders that are important to us - Gagne, PJ, Hafizh, Pecco, and MM. Then we finish off with some listener comments and reactions to the races.
