pole was a 1:08.4 back in 2015, which I think is the right year for that car. so hes 5sec off just like Schumacher when he rode a Ducati. pro athletes are fast no matter what. but he isnt THAT fast. fastest race lap was a 1:11.2 which makes for a better comparison, but im not sure if thats valid.

The way Rossi spoke at the press conference about Pedrosa made it sound like the Yamaha deal was almost a done deal.

Wonder why Pedrosa would've backed out? Maybe it was a full satellite bike without factory support?

Such a loss not to have him on the grid.

Hope there are some tributes to Dani at Valencia.

Sometimes I forget these guys have been racing each other all their lives. Alvaro Bautista posted these pics on Twitter today:

if DP goes to KRT and wins, how badly will that cheapen the wsbk brand? a guy thats been trying to unsuccessfully win a gp title for years, comes in and starts winning titles. that cant be good for talent comparisons between the two series.

i mean, when Biaggi came into SBK as a GP race winner and started dominating, i feel like thats when people started thinking of it as a lesser series, rather than a stock bike counterpart that was on level footing.

Has there ever been a real perception WSBK have equal talent just lesser bikes?

Id say early/mid 2000's, they were at least on equal footing. the bayliss era in wsbk when no one in GP was winning other than rossi was the last golden age for sbk.

Bayliss' wildcards are prob the only time anyone ever thought WSBK talent was comparable to GP talent

Best of the best compared to the best of the rest.

There are guys in MotoGP that are simply the best of the rest too. Baz was the latest example although we still wonder what would happen if he was on KRT or a Yamaha or a Duc.

Baz was on KRT... he won 2 races and had a grip of podiums before coming over. hes one good reason that WSBK talent isnt as high. if he was anywhere close to as good as the top Satellite riders in GP, he would have sniffed a podium or at least a few top5s. yet his best finish in 2017 when he finally made it onto the redesigned Duc was 8th.

unfortunately, Dani has been racing in the bottom of the top10 this year. IMO, hes gonna need to be really motivated to do well on any bike.
