While waiting for my new watch I finally replaced the 20mm slightly too big NATO strap for my Omega with a proper fitting 18mm and it looks better.

Speakings of straps... this must be good. $200?

Edit: it is a “racing” strap, so there is that.

For that dough I'd go with a Rubber B or Everest.

I’m thinking that strap is “worth” about $20

Luxury brands change luxury prices. That's what they're selling... The more expensive, the more exclusive. And Tag is the lower end of luxury. Of course their rubber strap would be $200.

To some extent. And yeah, the quality of materials and finished is good with luxury goods, although not necessarily the mechanics of it. Think how many luxury vehicles that aren't as reliable as cheaper brands. I think it's more the status symbol of it. The price of luxury goods has little to do with the cost to manufacture them. Create an exclusive brand, overinflate the price exorbitantly, and limit the supply. That's the formula. Sometimes more expensive can create more demand.

In the old days, before quartz watches, only the rich could afford wrist watches. They were made by hand and took a long time and lots of man hours. This naturally limited supply and made them costly. That's how luxury watches got started. They weren't intended to be luxury. They were everyday working man's watches. But only richer people could afford them. Now all luxury watches are mass produced in factories. Most Swiss watch parts are made in China. The cost to manufacture them isn't related to the cost of making them, other than markups for any previous metals. They could sell them WAY cheaper and still make healthy profits. But that's not what they're all about.

In this case it’s rubber. You can buy a leather strap for less.
