Butch invited me. I said yes. So I will break out of not riding dirt since 2000 or so to give this electric thing a go. This sounds too cool not to try. ( I used to race MX some 30 plus years ago. )

Yeah I have this and that physical limitation and I am fat, but not shifting and the chance to loft some endless wheelies?? I am in.

wool, today was just plunking around in the field more, brought the battery indicator on the dash to blinking. Not sure what that means. I will look it up in the owners manual.

What was really amazing was I went out immediately on the Black Dream, which weighs less, has more HP, and is freaking wicked. Very different. The Black Dream lurches forward, the Shiftless just charges ahead. Different. More comments later.

For the uninitiated, the Black Dream is a TMRacing Motard, 530 thumper, model year 2005. Kinda scary for some. Big fun for others.

I've got the '07 set up so you'll appreciate my sentiment when I say I'll never sell it. With that said, it would take an equally badass set up to take its place and I think the ebike has just that type of potential. The idea of 100% torque at any throttle position works for me. On that note, this is my current dream car.

More later, but today was 40 miles, 3 hours at Hollister, Psyche Hill, Jay Way, Peet's, Troll Trail, some Renz. The bike is so easy to ride in tight technical it is cheating. Unless you count the smile on your face. I even took a picture. Staff will have to upload that.

Be sure to swing by the van and say hi next time! Our primary purpose on these weekend excursions is mileage accumulation, but we're always down to chat with fellow riders/BARFers

We were out there with 2 Redshifts + a rag tag gang of other dinosaur burning bikes

Yes. 43.7, actually. Though I was trying to ride it to fully battery depletion, which I did. It goes into limp mode when the charge is really low.

More riding and documentation to be done. i think charge time is 2.5 hrs on 220V.

It is such a cheater bike. I have never enjoyed Troll Trail so much. Big smile on my face.

The most common question is... What is the range? I rode in a "race" at a casual pace for almost two hours without using up the battery.

The French guys, running at podium finish speed, ran out of battery in about an hour, I think. They, like most folks, are bigger than I.

There are a lot of varibles to the range question. I suspect the Alta has as much range as most riders. I would like more, but I like the bike for such a bunch of reasons that I will work around the range issue. Part of that is overhauling my TM two stroke...
