And Barni Racing Ducati signs Michael Ruben Rinaldi. Factory Ducati management must really believe in Rinaldi. Barni will continue as a single bike team. Bummer for Xavi Forés who really stepped up last season and grabbed some well-earned podiums.
I wanted Melandri to reunite with the R1 when Yamaha returned to WSBK. Was really bummed that didn't happen. I'm ambivalent about it happening now.

Seems the mid summer notification is the likely basis for the lawsuit.

The lack of mid-summer notification, rather. As they were not told until Doha.

Honda sucks in so many ways.

Sucks Ten Kate got shafted, truly. But I still can't help but be more excited to see what a factory effort from Honda in WSBK could produce.

If Bautista came in and crushed Rea (very unlikely), would that put to bed that Rea should be in GP or would be competitive there?

Also, we saw Bautista on the GP18 and he went pretty well. So perhaps he's a better rider than his bike allowed.

Bautista had some good rides this year including the GP17.

His GP18 ride was impressive. Looking forward to seeing him challenge Rea.

Glad Torres will be back in WSBK. Hope Pedercini can put a decent bike together this year. Probably better for Torres than struggling with the MV.

Yes.
Would like to see Xavi Fores in SBK in 2019 too.

Jordi is becoming the premier SBK journeyman, coming up on four different manufacturers he's ridden for in the class.

WSBK has decided on a final version of the new weekend schedule. PDF of the new weekend schedule format HERE.

FRIDAY:
Two WSBK practices neither of which determine placement for SuperPole (see below)

Saturday:
One practice and one qualifying session and WSBK Race 1. SuperPole is now just a single qualifying session for all riders rather than being split into SuperPole 1 and SuperPole 2. (Same for WSS and SSP300) This single qualifying session determines the grid for WSBK Race 1 on Saturday and the 10 lap WSBK sprint race on Sunday.

Sunday:
The 10-lap WSBK sprint race, now labeled the Tissot Superpole Race will take place late in the morning and will award half points (12/9/7/6/5/4/3/2/1) of a full WSBK race. Results of the 10 lap sprint race will determine the first nine positions for WSBK Race 2 later on Sunday. No word on whether they will still fuck around with the starting positions for those first nine spots.

I believe the original three-race proposal was just for the European rounds in order to fill the spot left by the abandoned STK1000 championship but the WSBK site says this format is for the duration of the season.

oh man

ya it rly seems like they are just trying to fill time. I gotta imagine everyone knows that 10 laps is plenty of time for the front runners to take over. so the on-paper results arent going to change. but if u need to fill time, u might as well do it with your stars instead of racers that fans don't recognize.
