Gov Brown Raising DMV fees $65 on motorcycles, F#ck him

Iím fine with a small increase on motorcycles (maybe half of the $65) but I feel itís unfair to raise rates equal to the increase on cars. If Gov Brown gets this passed I will Non-opp 4 out of 5 of my motorcycles just to show my anger towards this unfair increase and make sure I cut back the revenue that the state receives from me. I cant ride 5 bikes at once, and it wont hurt them to sit unused for a few years.
If thousands of other California motorcycle riders do this with their spare bikes they donít use often then maybe we can make our voices heard.

Wow, that's crazy. All motorcycles, cars, trucks, commercial vehicles, etc. Nearly 31 million vehicles at $65ea...that's an extra 2 billion dollars every year. I get wanting to add 5% or something, but that's crazy. I'll pay it if they come pave our dirt road though.

Gosh, if only there were ways motorcyclists could join together and raise their voices against such things.

That's why I started this thread, to help get more people aware of it. Maybe someone on this site has the connections to get us noticed.

This is a unfair tax burden on Motorcyclist.

It's an unfair tax burden on anyone with a street licensed vehicle.

Yeah, sorry, that wasn't directed at you, but at all the excuse-making in recent threads about why a lot of riders 'round here don't seem to care.

I understand, its been awhile since I have been on the Barf site, but I remember the same problems back then.

But affecting peoples pocket books seems to get people more motivated.

What burns me the most is, that I put no more than a couple hundred miles a year total on 4 of my bikes, yet I will be charged a additional $280 for them. That doesn't include the bike I use as a commuter and our 2 cars which would bring it to a total of $455 a year.

So what's the game plan? Posing a genuine question.

Looks like my 2 wheel fleet is going non op as well.

Wonder if the increase has anything to do with with how motorcycles are tiny compared to cars, but motorcycles pollute more?

BTW your avatar is awesome, a hot girl with her legs wrapped around a Xerox machine.

Same here. As it stands I'll be writing my representatives. If we're going to make charges per vehicle type then trucks should pay more and motorcycles less.

Why? I'm more than happy to contribute $65/vehicle if it's going to improve our our poorly-maintained roads...
