Honda VTR 1000 Sp1 & Sp2, when Honda gets Mad!
When Honda gets Mad... Borns the VTR 1000 SP1 & SP2!
I really love this 2 cylinder SBK coming from "The Big Wing". It was created with only one purpose: Beat Ducati in the same field ![]() And Honda did it for 2 times (1 Title with Sp1 and 1 with Sp2). I was just a child but I still have in my mind the epic battle between Edwards and Bayliss at Imola ![]() Anyone in Da House which owns or loves this bike? ![]() youtu.be//j8GUv06nx6A |

They sure did look cool. Turn like trucks though.

Really enjoyed my SP2. That and my CBX are two Honda’s I sometimes really regret letting go of.

You mean when Honda gets it's ass handed to them repeatedly by a small Italian company.

Not the VTR but on a 90 degree V twin theme I saw a sweet TL1000 on my way to work yesterday. I was going to stop and take a picture but thought that might be a bit weird. BTW it was parked in the driveway of someones house. Don't want to be THAT guy.

well, Honda couldn't well let them "cheat" to victory for so long.

![]() I miss the Honda of old. Curious how Honda decides to respond to Ducati throwing down the V4 superbike gauntlet. |

The same way they have been responding to getting their asses handed to them for the past decade...do absolutely nothing. Not even Nicky could get them anything close to equal footing on that CBR1K dog.

The sound of My old Rc51 with Sato high mounts made my pants tight.

they'll try to win the Suzuka 8hr and some other EWC races and will be very content. I don't think Duc races EWC.

Since when did the SP2 get a slipper clutch? I don't think the SP2 ever got that stock. And also, pretty sure the HP didn't increase 10hp from the SP1...I miss my SP1 some days.

I miss my SP1! At the time it was too much bike for me - but definitely the one bike I would go back to in a heartbeat.

what I also remember about RC51s was the factory racer American Honda offered for awhile - mebbe a down-spec'd SBK version? it couldn't be made street legal, & I never even laid eyes on 1 - tho' likely a Gen1 variant, really don't recall the details.....
