Thanks for the maps, guys. I too have been missing the Bay Area riding for a few years now. Ortega is quite far from Orange County, and it takes 30 minutes to finish it. Still haven't been to Palomar, so maybe that's next on my list.

Does anyone have any good maps for the LA area? Maybe something along the PCH? Or maybe even as far as the 626 area?

I rode this route today:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...3,0.44632&z=12

Thinking about doing this route sometime in the near future:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...4,0.44632&z=12

The first route was enjoyable. I rode on a Friday around 12. Traffic was pretty light on both Sepulveda and the PCH.

I'll add this one to the mix. I work in Santa Monica, so if I can get away for a long lunch, I'll do something like this.

The fact that they repairing the street up at the Stunt lookout makes it very quit up there. I like to go up Topanga/Fernwood/Sattlepeak and end up at the Stunt lookout to start the riding day. You just have to ride a couple of 100' on dirt/gravel part of the street where they repair it.
Going back home I normally take Sattlepeak/Tuna to avoid PCH as much as possible.

I started going to the crest (Angeles Crest, Hwy 2), but you have to go pretty early to avoid squids and the cops. Cops are pretty bad out there so make sure your papers are in order. they also love to hand out fix it tickets. Summer gets pretty ridiculous. Avoid Holiday weekends at all costs. Its local knowledge that Summer time= at least 1 death per week at the Crest, so take heed. Ive heard everything from flying off cliffs, head-ons, and decapatations out there. There are some very fast roads and sections out there, so ride within your limits out there.

I recently moved to the Valley, and I started going to Malibu, aka Santa Monica Mts. This is what I call home now. First off, the law enforcement out here are way more laid back then that of the crest. You really have to be knuckleheading it up to get a ticket(i.e. stunting, crossing over the line, excessive speeding). Ive been dragging a knee past a cop, and no ticket. As I heard from the local Photographer (yes we have a guy taking pics here), Paul Harrold, Most of the cops here actually ride. they understand that you can drag and not be outa control. there is a section that is from the world famous rock store to the lookout that is called "the snake." You could spend all day here doing laps. there are also some great roads to ride. Latigo (10 miles of varying turns), Stunt, Piuma, Decker, Las Flores, Tuna (great for coaster races) and of course, Mulholland. The great thing is if you get lost, find your way downhill and all roads will lead to PCH (for the most part).

you must not talk about malibu ca because the cops are crazy when it comes to give tickets around the rock store area.

Group Ride Routes & Maps for the Bay Area.

Great idea by Liq2, so here it is- Post up route maps for all areas of the Bay Area for people to ride and use for group rides.

Please post up and embed maps from all over the Bay Area for folks to enjoy!

Please put- Northbay or Eastbay or Southbay at the top of your post.

How to embed a Google map:
After you create a route on google maps.
Click the "Link" button top right of map
Copy the "Paste HTML to embed in website" long address
type the [gmap] tags- {gmap} insert long address {/gmap} <--use [ ]

To get a full page map with details (which you can then change), click the "Powered by Google" at the bottom left of the map.
