Yep always have 16+ years now. If my engines are best running, reliable and winning most races in 7 clubs in North America it must be something besides "the #" no? Again a dyno is just a tool. Its all how you use it to get an end result. If my "#'s" seem "high" then why are other bikes quoting @sae slower? Cause the engines are slower not because of a slightly different way to measure them. Same with folks that use or tune on a Superflow or Factory Pro dyno. Just numbers

Uhhmm isnt hp a calculation of rpm and torque. I think its hp=rpm*torque/5252. ??

So isnt the torque curve more important to look at?? Just a stupid dude askin

Too many worry @the "#" but its fun to talk #'s online cause for most people that's all they can understand.

Most BARFers can't, that's why threads are worthless without pics.

Yes, if you datalog instantaneous acceleration and graph it versus time, you'll find that the curve matches exactly the torque-curve from the dyno. Maximum acceleration occurs at torque-peak in each gear.

HP is a calculated value based upon RPM and the drum-diameter. It's actually calculus and HP is integration of torque with respect to distance and time (area under curve). If you apply torque on the ground for a certain distance & time... say 1/4-mile in X-seconds, you can arrive at some average HP figure.

Interesting thing is... acceleration is based upon linear-thrust at the contact-patch. The lower the gear, the higher the torque and the higher the thrust. However, HP on the ground is always the same regardless of gear.

what is the current moto record?

I heard some teenager did a mid 1:46 last season on an R6 (?)

Yep. I heard a lower figure but not sure if it was with T12-13 chicane.

Are you sure about R6?
Beaubier did 1:44.896 while testing on R1 and "average" MotoAmerica laptime around East is ~1:45 high.

Those MotoAmerica pros always set a "lap record" when they are there for testing, but they blow straight through the esses.

Not that they still aren't going way faster than anyone posting on BARF, my point is just that there are variables.
