2019 SX Racing thread - Spoiler Alert

Wilson shocked me.
Barcia stunned me.

More after brekkie.

**edit -

450 Results
250 Results

In the 250 class I think it was pretty obvious that the fastest rider did not win.
The class empty of all of the Champs is wide open and Cinciarulo seems like he should take the chase to all.
However he has been prone to mistakes and some back luck and he had both last night.
Nichols rolled smooth and smart. Ferrandis did a good job to finish second.

In the 450 class is was a shock to me to see Wilson still leading after 15 minutes..
I think he may have gotten tired and that affected him. Doing it all for himself as a privateer has to be limiting to his program. I expected him to hold on to third but the fast Tomac managed to light it up the last 1/2 of the race.

I was excited for Wilson and Malcolm Stewert.. heck I thought Stewart had a solid shot at the win or at least the podium. A simple mistake (stall/missed gear?) took that away. Bummer.

Webb impressed me at the end for sure with a solid result and strong end of the race.
Plessinger was solid the whole race and the best result by the rookie class.

Reed with a top 10 was good to see.

Surprise results from Anderson, Musquin and Bagget for me.

Good show!

Barcia wearing the red plate next week in Phoenix.

I did not know I was going to go until I went. When I posted that I was already drinking coffee waiting for food. If you want to go next Sunday let me know and don't tell me 11 AM.

I noticed that Vince Friese finished 13th and that I did not see Weston Peick in the results. I didn't know that Weston had suffered some incredibly bad injuries recently at a Supercross in France. Here is a link with details and a way to contribute if you are so inclined: https://road2recovery.com/cause-view/weston-peick/

I'm sure you can learn more with a google search. Kick ass with your recovery Weston, we're pulling for you.

Yeah Weston got pretty messed up. Hope he can overcome.
Prayers with ya. Your as a determination has been inspirational.
Betting you will inspire us with that again.

Thanks for the reminder Dog.

Osbourne missed the show too. He was looking solid before his injury.

Super fun race. I don't know why people dislike the rain, it always bring the best racing, imo.

Last night left me completely stoked and really optimistic for a great season.

It was fantastic racing from qualifying, through the heats, and into the mains. I know a lot folks might want to say it was close because of the rain, but qualifying was tight too and it was dry then. Top four spots qualifying were non factory riders in the 450's.

I think the field has picked up their game and there are going to be at least 10 guys any wknd threatening the podium. Maybe I'm on an A1 crack high..... but man it sure seems possible. At least five names for the title hunt.

Wilson..... I was on the edge of my couch on lap 15 just hoping he could hold on. When is the last time a privateer won a main on the big bikes?

Perhaps rumors of of an undisclosed injury is true of Anderson. He was looking back to see who was next the second half of the race.

Adam Cianciarulo was the fastest qualifyer 250 or 450 yesterday. Flat out flying.... and then..... same old mistakes. Dylan Fernandes is going to keep him honest and my pick for the West title.

Hoping for more of the same tight racing and a dry track in AZ this weekend.

Agree with everything Was stoked to see Wilson up front. I've always liked him and hope he can stay injury free this year. It was cool to see Stewart up front too...but I wasn't surprised that he made a mistake Tomac went into beast mode the last two laps...I think he was playing it safe most of the race...it was a smart move on his part. Not sure what the hell was wrong with Anderson...injury, bike mental?...not a good start to the year for him! Looking forward to a dry track next race. I think it's a competitive class and the racing will be good.

A1 crack...
6 for sure and yeah.. 10 is possible. For sure 10 can get a podium. Maybe a dozen.

Brayton won Daytona last year as a privateer. I will always remember Ricky Ryan doing it decades ago.

Need me some Arizona crack next Saturday!

Brayton isnt a privateer in my opinion. Not on a Factory Team, but certainly certainly a team. Satelite or support team. He has a salary, bonus plan, bike, full team staff, transportation etc etc at Motoconcepts. Even some factory support from Honda. I define a privateer as a rider funding his racing out of his own pocket and showing up in a van with a friend or their dad as a mechanic. Ala Seven Deuce Deuce or Stankdog.

I think you are right about Ricky Ryan, Daytona in the 80's.

I probably need to walk back my privateer comment about Dean Wilson now..... Just read in RacerX article he has a full factory Husqvarna lease engine, factory suspension, race bike being maintained and transported by Rockstar Husqvarna along with travel money. Gold level privateer.

Its only Wednesday.... I want my supercross!

Great new show Whiskey Throttle with David Pingree and Grant Langston as hosts. This is the second episode with Ricky "Too Hip or the Badboy" Johnson as a guest. Awesome episode if you are a fan of the 80's Moto to hold you over until the weekend.

Good racing...!

Baggett rocked... damn some dude here thought he could have a good year.

Anderson's aggressive pass on Roczen changed things for sure, but it was great to see Ken get up without being all pissed off and podium. He deserves the red plate and is looking solid.

Tomac again.. not the dominating force (except in the LCQ).

I had high hopes for Reed to take a solid top ten after his heat race. Oh well.. the OG is still amazing! Wilson stayed in the hunt with a top ten and the points are close with no clear and obvious favorite.

On the other hand Cianciarulo showed he is just that. He will be tough to beat going forward and I think the only one that can beat him is himself.
