Used Kendon Trailer Single

Hello BARF,

Selling a 1999 Kendon trailer single.

I have a used Kendon Stand-up 1 rail motorcycle trailer.
The trailer is in very good condition. It was never in an accident.
I've upgraded the lighting from bulb to LEDs for reasons LEDs are brighter. No issues with electrical.

Asking $1050 <--reduced price (09/10)

Thanks.

Hi Junkie,

Thanks for pointing it out. It's a 1999.

I also updated the original thread.

Sy, is it pretty similar to the current models in terms of features and functionality? https://www.kendonusa.com/product/si...cycle-trailer/ What class hitch is required? I am looking to add a hitch either to our SUV or my daily driver, looking to see if one of these trailers will work.

Hi Stealth,

The trailer users a 2" ball hitch. As for what class, I have seen guys put a trailer hitch on a mercedes C300 and pull a kendon single trailer w/no problem. The single trailer weights ~300 lbs.

From the kendon website: "Kendon recommends a Class 2 or greater hitch. Some customers have reported successful towing with Class 1 hitches. Always be sure the towing capacity of your hitch and tow vehicle exceed the tongue weight and gross weight of your fully loaded Kendon Stand-Upô Trailer before towing."

As far as differences between 1999 vs newer model (ie. 2016+), besides the cosmetic stuff, the overall layout is the same (maybe slightly larger surface). I'm not sure if there is a difference from a suspension perspective (or how it rides. I will have to check the forums). I had another Kendon 2003 and it's identical to the 1999. The tow feels the same.

I hope this helps.

Class 1 is rated to tow 2000lb with 200lb tongue weight, given that the axle weight rating on the trailer is 1400lb (at least on my 99), and the trailer weighs 300lb or so, that shouldn't be a problem.

Class 2 is better if available, no real downside (rated 3500/350).

of course, your tow vehicle may have a lower rating.

If you have a bike that has a short wheelbase and is very front heavy (and heavy in general), I suppose it might be possible to have tongue weight in excess of 200lb. Seems unlikely in general, but possible.

I tow mine behind my 4 cylinder Camry with no problems. I've towed similar weight HF trailers behind the Integra and Outback, and while the cars handle them fine the Kendon tows nicer - it don't make anywhere near as much noise, for example. the Kendon folding mechanism is also nicer.

Thanks all for the very detailed information, much appreciated. We have an SUV and a sedan - the SUV can take a class 3 hitch and the car only fits a class 1, sounds like either would work.

Sy, will PM you.
