When asked if there was ever a waning of his motivation to win, Rea responded "No."

cannot believe i missed "Jorge Luis Borges" in the poll.
Well played, sir. Well played indeed.

The last option reminded me of a William Faulkner response in a 1956 interview for the Paris Review :
INTERVIEWER :
Bourbon, you mean?
FAULKNER :
No, I ain't that particular. Between Scotch and nothing, I'll take Scotch.

KEL EDGE, Superbike World Championship photographer and journalist since the series' first race in 1988, said goodbye this weekend. Best wishes, sir. Well done. 2016 Edge photo below.

Jonathan Rea was noticeably pale, but bright eyed following his Race 2 win.
Post race interview excerpts :
"Spent pretty much from 1 o'clock to 4 o'clock in the toilet(due to a "stomach bug"). ... To be honest, I've never really seen that as achievable (equaling Doug Polen's record). ... It's not about records. I'm living the dream at the minute. I have no words for what we're doing, it's really not normal. These are some of the best riders in the world, and the best manufacturers in the world. It just seems like I've clicked with my bike so well. I can't explain it. I don't know what it is, but I know it's an incredible feeling riding it every weekend."

Riffing off Kel Edge ... two images (not Kel's) from the inaugural Donington Park WSBK race in 1988. Fred Merkel surfing & the back of his helmet. Boy was trazy.

cross-posted from latest MotoGP thread:

bulldog fight !!

Rea: I could've done better than Crutchlow in MotoGP

".....Crutchlow and Rea raced against each other in Britain and briefly in WSBK, with the former departing to MotoGP with Tech 3 Yamaha in 2011 while Rea remained in Superbikes.....

.....Cal was the last guy to leave this paddock [WSBK] for a competitive machine.....

.....Sometimes I look to him and I feel like I can do that, I can do better. I'm not jealous, I'm proud of him.
I used to race and beat Cal – certainly more than he beat me
....."

Coulda woulda shoulda. I am beginning to hate all British moto racers. They do nothing but complain about what ifs.

2017 WSS Champ Lucas Mahias, expected to continue with GRT Yamaha, has instead signed with Puccetti Kawasaki to race WSS in 2019. Mahias will team current Puccetti rider Hikari Okubo. Having won five World Championships, the Puccetti Supersport team struggled this season after Kenen Sofuoglu retired. Ex-GP racer Hector Barbera has yet to deliver better than a 9th place finish in three races with the team.

Mahias agreement with Puccetti is reported to include a promise of a factory-equivalent Kawasaki Superbike for 2020 should the frenchman win the 2019 World Supersport Championship.
