When I’m out riding I wave at cops going opposite direction(bikes and cars), fire engines, EMTs. Just acknowledging their presence on the road and appreciation of their work.

The first grom group ride I went on we passed two cops standing next to their bicycles in old sacramento. At least one of our group was doing a wheelie.

As we passed the cops, one of them did the helmet tap, then pointed to his partner, who proceeded to tap his own helmet and point back to the first officer

about an hour later a Horse cop told me his ride had more HP

Personally, I wave at nearly every cop I see, bikes or cages. Never had a bad response. Many ignore me but I get waves back fairly often

Hehe...I gave a small salute to a CHP lying in wait on Hwy120, as I passed a couple of cars, at somewhere north of 85mph. No lights, no siren, no ticket.

But on another day, with a different officer...it might have been 500.00.

I passed a officer (probably a ranger rather than CHP) on HWY 120 doing 70mph ish and he flipped his lights on. I think being he was in an SUV and it was the end of the day he did not pursue.

always wave to cops - i'm a waver in general. Last week up at the parking lot on Knoxville by the bridge - cop was sitting in his car and starting playing eye of the tiger on his intercom - was pretty funny. Cops are humans too...

I wave at cops(bike or not), most wave back if they see me. I guess I kinda feel like were all in this together (ER/EMS/fire/cops). Sure they don't recognize me on the bike but I guess I still feel the same about it.

I rode past two SF Park Rangers in GG Park. They were squirreling around in the park bushes on their DRZs. I nodded my head and they both waved at me . . looks like they were having too much fun at work.

I wave to cops, patrolmen, firefighters, EMTs, park rangers, and military convoys.

Moto chippies get the head tap. Sometimes they give the head tap back.
