Hello BARF & Happy New Year to ALL!
arty
2007 has been a pretty good year for Barf in several ways and I hope it has been for you as well. Of course being a moto board we have had a share of injuries and I hope all those folks are healing well and looking forward to a healthy 2008. We also noted some tragedies as well with some friends of members passing
We have also seen issues regarding motorcycling float around in various forums. Whether it is land issues, safety or new laws that affect us as riders the discussion and support for our rights as motorcyclists is something that barf should always be aware of. These affect our futures and we need to protect our freedom to pursue our passion always.
We also have seen some great rides, some great racing, awesome photo's, lots of meets and I am sure you have built some strong memories and new friendships by being part of our community. This is a time to reflect a bit and enjoy your families and friends
Savor them all..life is short and things change way to fast.
For barf we have seen some good things happen. Stuff like:
* New Software
* Continued growth and expansion
* barf involvement with the AFM
* Net Moto's (barf racing) first AMA top 10 by Kenny Carlotta at Fontana
* Barf at Danny Walkers Supercamp!
* Awesome track days with ZZ, Keigwin and Pacific Track Time
* A vast amount of socials put on by the members
* Great stories of our rides, racing, trackdays and more.
And of course we had some trying times as well. Trivial compared to real life so not even worth mentioning!
We have a couple of things to let you know about to make sure you are aware of where barf is heading.
1. The new Terms of Service is up. The changes are minor, but when you have insomnia and need a sleeping aid feel free to read it. http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/info/tos.php
2. A new forum, "the best of barf" will be up and going. This is a place to keep those really good threads so newer members can find the good stuff that may have been buried can be found. Cardinal03 and Magyarbetyar will be the Moderators of this forum and if you have nominations for good threads to be included you can PM them with a link and why you think they should be there.
3. Barf will be sponsoring two riders in the Cal24 in June. A 24 hour ride that only the hardcore riders dare enter. Several barfers have competed before and we are pleased to have Aciurczak and squidviscious as our official entries. Silversvs, one of our moderators is also joining in as well. Aciurczak has done this deal 4 times and he knows what he is in for. SV is a rookie in the event and will need all of his enthusiasm to succeed. It should be fun to follow the vet and the rookie in their approach to the event and their stories of 24 on two wheels. Congrats guys! This too should become an annual event for us and you can follow their stories here and decide if your butt is up to trying it in the future. http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3592517#post3592517
4. Contests for 2008! Barf will be throwing a few for the members to join in on and the first has been announced. A photoshop style contest: http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3608477#post3608477
Prizes will vary, but the fun should not!
5. We have quite a few features to fix on the site and that will be an ongoing process. Minibarf is back up and going! Dave (valgar)is probably barf's MVP in terms of keeping this site running technology wise and hence the biggest contributor. Buy him a beer often and a thanks to him is always a good thing.
6. Moderators have been adjusted slightly. This last year we added WackyIraqi, AFM199 and both have been great additions to the team that keeps our unique online culture inline. For 2008 we are now adding Hawkgirl, Cardinal03, Rel as well as welcoming back Magyarbetyar to full time Mod status. Barf is founded on being as fair as possible in regards to our members using the site. These folks give huge amounts of time to this end and are invaluable to us enjoying barf.
7. Barf will celebrate its 6th birthday on January 3rd and it has been a journey, as we have searched for the right formats to make barfing an enjoyable place for motorcyclist. We will have a barf bash celebration of such in the early summer. This will mean barfies will be handed out once again for many different aspects of sharing on this site. Look for polls to fly on who you think should be a barfie award winner.
8. Barf membership tags will be available as a special way to contribute to the site. These will be available for $40 dollars for the year = less than 4 bucks a month. See my avatar for location. You can get one by going to the donate tab above (which has also been added) and paypaling your $$. Make sure to include your screen name and your tag request. Questions??? click the contact tag and ask!
9. The barf calendar is finally going to be used. Listings include regular barf meets, AFM Racing, AMA Superbike Racing, AMA Flat Track, AMA Supercross, AMA Motocross and we will be adding more to it. If you have something worthy please email it to me bud.netmoto@gmail.com
10. There is more stuff going behind the scenes as well as we develop additional ways to have fun.
Barf will continue to evolve and I am determined to keep this a friendly site for our members. We of course allow a few things to take place that you generally don't find on other moto sites. This is really due to theSteveco's original vision; which I subscribe too, and the unique cultural aspects of where barf lives. The Bay Area.
Mucho thanks to all those that volunteer to help this site. This goes beyond the moderators as many members contribute in terms of financial, content and other ways. As always barf is dedicated to motorcyclist everywhere. A place to share the two wheel life.
Best to all of you in 2008!
