Anyone think we will see a woman in moto gp? How bout within the next 50 years. We've got woman AFM racers, and there is a certain 14 Y.O. girl kickin ass out there so what is stopping women?

Is it skill?

Stereotypes?

Sponsorship?

Something else?

I personally think that we will see a woman in moto gp. Possibly someone like dani that is small which might help a rider the same way Danica Patrick uses her lighter weight to race in the IRL.

Katja was in 250cc a few years ago...there was also a Japanese girl in 125cc in the 90s...

1st thing that popped into my,...er...um...daaa....head

But really, why not? Talent is talent no?

Elena, just needs time and money and it would be done :D

As far as Elena Myers goes, I am well aware of her awesome skills but is there a serious goal that she and her family have in mind for her to go to Europe?

Elena was doing 1:51's at Buttonwillow during AFM round 1. I think she's got what it takes to go all the way if her heart's in it.

I've seen Elana Myers race, and she definitely has the potential. She would do well to move to europe very, very soon if she is serious about her racing career.

then who will make the babies and the sandwiches while barefoot, naked, and kitchen bound.

sorry to say it but it's all about marketing..

sure, there are women that kick ass on the track but if their looks couldn't sell a bag of kitty litter, then she won't get too much endorsements from major sponsorship...small local ones that'll give her parts and some money, but not big $$$$ to represent the company..

Oh god. Last thing we need is a Danica Patrick distractor clone in MotoGP.

If they have the skill, let them race. But there's this trend of pushing women into sports just for their sheer marketability.

yup...

there are major corporations, 2 that comes to mind, that would LOVE to have a woman motoGP or world factory superbike racer to wear their products but none have stand out enough that wins or make top 5 or be photogenic enough....with the combo of the 2, the very same company would have them in their catalogs to push more of their products to growing market towards women...

for now, they gotta make due with what comes close with stoner, rossi, and pedarosa....:|

DUH!!!
it's cause wome are frail and weak and dont like to break nails, thats why we will never see it happen*

this is a joke and only a joke:teeth

Sorry to say it, but I think that's a bunch of B.S. They'll be on her like flies on honey if she wins races. Having a chick racer to do your ads opens up the market for chicks to buy your stuff. She doesn't have to be a supermodel, she just has to not be fat and/or ugly. Makeup and lighting can do the rest.

:thumbup

thanks for saying what I said in a more blunt way...

I wanted to mention Elena as a good example of girls kicking ass and getting Astar sponsorship while another local went to europe and isn't getting the same offers even though she's kicking ass there too...
