Recently Motion Pro asked BARF owners of Suzuki bikes for help in fitting and testing their brake lever for Suzuki bikes. I said, I'm available! And yesterday afternoon rode my 2007 SV650 to their shop.

Here's Larry, of Motion Pro's R&D, working on my bike.

Apparently Suzuki changed something in the front brake sensor and the change affected some, but not all, of Motion Pro's replacement brake levers for Suzuki bikes. And Suzuki would not share with Motion Pro which bike models had the front brake sensor change. So Motion Pro decided to ask BARFers to submit their bikes for testing.

This is the OEM front brake lever on my bike. The tang on the end that looks like two rectangles, one on top of the other, is the front brake light actuator. Which means, I believe, that the big rectangle presses against the brake sensor. I think it's this part of the lever on the Motion Pro replacement lever that doesn't close the electrical circuit for the brake light. I think Larry said my bike model and year was one of the Suzukis affected.

In working with some of the BARF bikes, Larry found some serious problems. One bike's front brake lever was missing the locking nut underneath the lever that holds the lever to the perch. My bike's lever also had a problem, and that problem was because the mechanic who installed my VStrom hand guards did a shitty job. Larry also found that the mechanic did not install the locking Fuji nut in the right order with the other nuts. Larry added a new Fuji locking nut and put all the nuts in order. :)laughing nuts in order :laughing)

And then some other BARFer pushed his bike into the room. Meet Noncents aka Paul and his GSXR1000.

Tamara, also of Motion Pro's R&D dept., and I both got a kick out of Noncents' use of his right mirror.

And then Kevin, the operations manager, came into the room and uttered the magic words: You guys want a tour of our shop?

Hell, yeah!

Motion Pro makes bike parts and tools for bikes. Some of their parts are re-branded by other big bike companies. I'm sure Paul can add some more info, as I tend to go deaf when taking pictures. :laughing

Motion Pro's owner, Chris Carter, started out as a bike racer. His passion for bikes remains strong, as evidenced by the various bikes he is restoring in his shop. This 1910 Harley Davidson is one of those bikes.

Here's one he restored.

This is the spark advance (which I initially called the spark arrestor).

And Chris Carter's other bikes are upstairs.

Most of these bikes he himself restored. Here's just a few of them.

This one's not quite ready. I think the gas tank is pretty cool looking. :laughing

And here's the bike that Chris Carter won a gold medal in the International Six Days Trial (aka the “Olympics of Motorcycling”) in 1976 and the Final Day Motocross race.

So Noncents says, Suzuki owners, check it out! You get a free tool, decals and maybe even a working compass!
