Barfers,

After 4yrs in the Bay, I'm heading to the warmth of SoCal. :) I was wondering if you guys could help me with a few suggestions of good twisties :ride in/around San Diego.

Thanks in advance.

There are some great roads east of the the city, east of Chula Vista and El Cajon. Ridden around Honey Springs Road, Otay Lakes, etc. Takes you east and then you can catch the 8 back to the city.

Of course theres Palomar, which is North East, but filled with cops.

I've got a track right in my back yard Jeffery! :laughing Ramona speedway and a dirt track for dirt bike racing :p Enjoying your rain Hooli :teeth

Yes. Rain here means snow in Tahoe. :p

Tracks within reasonable distance of the Bay Area:

ROAD COURSES

Infineon (I still call it Sears Pt.)
Laguna Seca
Thunderhill
Buttonwillow
Reno-Fernley (a stretch but worth a weekend)

OFF-ROAD

Carnegie
Hollister
Metcalf
Prairie City
Oceano Dunes (Pismo)

:twofinger

I've got the entire desert in Borrego and Ocotillo Wells for off road :p I've got snow in Laguna/Julian. We've got more twisties then we know what to do with :teeth And it is sunny here :p QUALCOMM Stadium sets up a race track during the weekends because street racing was getting out of control here. http://www.sandiego.gov/qualcomm/event/tenants/racelegal.shtml
So there :laughing

ehhhh. i personally like to avoid all the squids and cops out at Palomar Mt. so continuing on 78/79 past Julian onto Banner Rd is a bit more fun. the road is much smoother, traffic free, and w/out the shadows and blind corners ud find at Palomar.

Yeah but that heads out toward the desert. Not good unless it is winter. The Ferrari and Corvette clubs ride that road a lot. Recently mini coopers have started going out there. You can turn at 79 and turn left and ride laguna come back through sunshine and drive by the lakes. That is a beautiful ride and not many squids. :laughing And I've never seen a cop there. I love riding it. We always stop to eat in Pine Valley

I lived there for 3 years and what I learned is it is not like the bay area. If you want to ride some twist be prepared to drive out to it. I would cage it with the bike on a joe hauler sometimes so it wouldn't hurt so bad. I am talking some of these rides will take a WHOLE DAY to complete.
Julian area is great...Jamul is ok... I might be willing to refer some people to ride with if you are interested and that of course also depends on your skill level and "crazy" level... I don't drag knee on the street but some of these guys do! I lso know a great mechanic there... ElSkipidor style but he works out of his garage and is an actual business... He just cheaper.
