So, I was having this conversation with Planegray last night where I was telling him that one of my neighbours had commented that I must be "high maintenance"...........(based on the fact that I run and keep an impeccable household, my shit is in order etc etc)

I said I wasn't high maintenance, I have high standards that I expect myself and other people to maintain, but I don't need anyone to maintain "me" as it were.

To me, high maintenance is someone who is needy, selfish, fussy, prissy, takes forever to get things done (hair, makeup etc if female) and most often on the lookout to find someone else to be responsible to get things done, and basically just wants to be looked after by someone else.

What say you sinkers, what is your definition of high maintenance

Yeah, I'm bored, I need a jobby job that doesn't involve a damned paintbrush :p

high maintenance= needs YOU to do everything FOR them.

You are not.

I agree with you on the definition--
High maintenance is someone who wants someone ELSE to meet their high standards of care.
High standards are held by those who set the bar high and make it there themselves.

Some folks are intimidated by those with high standards, though. Plenty of folks with standards don't suffer fools gladly.

:laughing @ Steeler Mike (ant bumped me)

Drama, and it is all about me types are high maint. Is your neighbor a bit jealous or something? Tell him or her they must be slobs if they think having a clean house/yard makes you high maint. :thumbup You rock Wendy :)

While some women require more maintenance than a saltwater fish tank, the older I get the less I meet. Older women just seem to figure out it is not a sustainable trait and get it together. I wouldn`t think a person who has house/life is in order would be HM.

Maybe it starts with parents/Daddy spoiling and setting up the "take care of me" if you love me mindset.

I've always seen 'high maintenance' as being women who rarely have sex with their guy because it messes up their hair/make-up and takes too much time to fix them self up again.

They are usually nice to look at but no fun to be with.

Wendy, you're spot on, and you are no means high maintenance.

Also, don't forget that some can be emotionally high maintenance, too - coming to you with all kinds of problems about their friends and family constantly needing you to help bolster their self-image.

I think he used the wrong word. However, now that you made this post and even though you claim you're bored, I'm going to call you out on being insecure. :twofinger
