We are proud to announce our second annual Rydther Rally. Come on out and join us for three days of riding, sightseeing, and eating fun in the Sierra Nevada. What is all this about? It's about meeting new friends, and catching up with old ones. If you can only manage a hall pass for two days, no problem – book a room for Saturday, and ride out to the event’s dinner gathering that evening in Hawthorne. On Sunday, enjoy some company on your way home over the mountain passes.:ride :party

Dates: September 25 ~ 27 (Fri., Sat., and Sun.)
Destination: Hawthorne, NV
Estimated 3-Day Mileage: 800~1,000 miles

Please note that this is not an organized or guided group-riding event. There are no officially designated leads or sweeps. This is a rally with pre-determined routes, common points-of-interest and destination for the participants. The official daily starting point and time are provided to allow the participants the greatest opportunity to enjoy the company of other BARFers and BARFettes along the way for the duration of the rally. Participants are free to band into groups of their own choosing, and at their own risk.

You are responsible for yourself
Riding a motorcycle is dangerous. You are responsible for your own safety. Proper riding gear, a valid CDL/M1, vehicle registration and proof of insurance are highly recommended. You are also responsible for the good operating condition of your motorcycle. The good condition includes general mechanical condition, as well as the condition of wear items such as chains and sprockets, brake pads, and tires. In short, you are the Captain of your own ship.

Always choose your riding partners carefully. You'll be covering long distances and traveling through relatively remote areas -- be sure that your riding partners and their bikes are legal and in good shape to ride. While this rally should be an opportunity to make friends and meet new people, you should also remain selective and wary of strangers who may or may not be competent riders, and may or may not maintain their motorcycles (or their license/registration) in a manner that will prove to be safe, reliable and hassle-free.

Expenses
You are responsible for your own expenses. Budget for lodging, park fee(s), gas, food, beverages, and anything you may need along the way accordingly.

Perfect time of year for that part of the world.

Someone add this to their notes: I'll be coming back from an Heinkel Scooter event in Colorado and will have room for one bike and two people in my truck the 28th or 29th, should that sort of assist be needed. If that event doesn't happen I'm in.

BTW: There is a huge amount of arsenic in the water - not as much as Fernley but still.
Water quality in Hawthorne, NV is 33 on a scale to 100 (higher is better).
OK, I know, you're not going there to sample the water.....

So does that mean you'll be stopping in, Ritch?

The Colorado thing has the same dates, and unless someone needs transportation home (or my thing in Denver is canceled) no.

EDIT:
If there is a pre-ride/planning trip between now and then by sane individuals, I'd be up for that- weekdays probably OK.

is this the beloved fall rally??? I wont know till the semester starts but if I can swing it with classes I am definitely in!!

Why not stop in VC on the way home? There's not that many road choices, and I dislike riding the same road twice.

Berlin might be a better choice - if the BARF group would like to double the population of a town (without all those pesky child support payments and whiny kids) and see some giant dolphin like dinosaur fossils, and perhaps even the shoe tree on 50.

Wonder if I should order some new sprockets just in case.

In!

I will be on my way back from a 10-day ride around the Southwest, so I won't be pulling in until Saturday afternoon. Looking forward to the 50 cent beers and the company. :party
