I just don't understand it. Do these scammers think people are stupid enough to believe this kind of b/s? Long story short, I was looking through Cycletrader and came across a gorgeous 2008' Triumph 675 with 3k miles for only $4800. I knew it was too good to be true from the start but I e-mailed the guy regardless. Here is the e-mail I got:

Hello,

The bike is still for sale for $4800. Priced to sell. I have attached some photos showing the current condition of the bike. Has 3,800 miles on it.

I bought the bike from United States. I was living in Walton Beach FL at that time then I got married and moved at my wife place in London(United Kingdom).

I was selling the bike on ebay motors. The winner of the auction is located in US. I went to a local shipping company to deliver the bike to his location. The buyer payed for delivery taxes and the shipping was started. While the bike was on transit, the buyer changed his mind because he had to pay an old dept to a bank and don't have the money to pay for the bike no more. So the bike was delivered to United States but there was no buyer for it. So my only chance not to waste a bunch of money to bring the bike back is to find another buyer for the bike located in United States. The price is $4800. Priced to sell. I will pay all the costs to bring the bike to your door address so there will not be extra taxes.

I was going to reply with a "Thank you, go f**k yourself with a goat, and have a nice day" but I want to get back at him somehow. I've heard of people scamming scammers... and basically I'm just sick of the situation.

sounds exactly like the replies sent on a bunch of cars on CL, priced, wouldn't you know it, all at $4988. and wow, they all live in London too and the vehicles are already in shipping containers so you can't inspect it but really, they will have you use Ebay to pay them so its nice and safe... :rolleyes

The transaction will go straight through Trader Publishing Company ( www.traderpublishing.us ). They will be our middle man. For more information about how they can handle the transaction please e-mail them at: traderpublishing-inc@usa.com

The steps of the transaction are:

1. You send the payment to trader publishing.
2. I will ship the bike to your door.
3. You receive the bike and you have 2 days of inspection.
4. If the bike is as described Trader Publishing will forward me the payment.

You can also find more info regarding how Trader Publishing Company can handle a transaction by going to "Business Protection Program" on their website.

Once you indicate you want to see it in person, they usually stop responding to you. Whenever I get these type of e-mails, I usually just respond with a simple "Fuck you."
 
no!!! you're doing it wrong...
what you do is tell them that you have a check for $12,000 that your friend gave you. Tell him that you'll send him the check and all he has to do is wire you back the difference from the purchase price......minus, of course a 10% convenience fee for him doing so....and then everybody wins... :laughing

I have shiped the bike in US using an escrow service. Right now the bike is in Norfolk Virginia. I will ship the bike to your door and you will have 2 days of inspection. You will make the purchase when the inspection period ends. For our safety we will use trader publishing. I need your full name and exact delivery address in order to start transaction. trader publishing will contact you then with payment and delivery info.
