yeah, it's hard to beleive that the Wing was conceived by Honda as an in-yer-face response
to the Kawi 900 Z1

they saw that the CB750 wouldn't get the 'powerhouse' job done anymore
& went to the flat-4 literbike

need a hint that this is true? the first models came with dual discs & shouldered alloy rims,
each an improvement over then-current I-4 fare

the model kinda languished, til joined up with Craig Vetter's Windjammer -
then we were off and running with dressers & Interstate versions, etc.

direct line forward to the Busa & especially the Kawi C14......

How about the RC003?

This is #3, a supercharged 4 into 4.

it could be either really, it seems a lot of the earlier wings got put on the side of the house at a young age for various reasons, and an equal number of them had the metaphorical wheels ridden off of them. at 18k it's barely broken in, and at 118k with good maintenance i'd expect another 80k miles out of the engine (electronics, etc etc might not keep up)

i have a
- 79 with ~29k on it and it's 99% original. it was ridden in the dawn of it's life then largely parked due to disinterest. i knew the original owner, and it's been waiting for me to resurrect it for about 2 years now. i fear the carbs :laughing

- 75 with 36k or so on it, has been monkeyed with a bit but other than cosmetics and some aftermarket ugly-as-sin hard bags it's original. also needs carb work but it does run sorta

- the other 79. it has a single carb conversion that runs like ass, i want to restore and flip it i think. nice bike, only about 50k miles i think.

- 76 that, at 58k miles, is by far the most used bike i own. i got it with a rat-chewed wiring harness but there is evidence that it was used extensively for touring when it was road worthy and cared for before being parked in Ratville. someday it might ride again

so, old goldwings are bitchin bikes with an interesting pedigree. and they're addiciting

I saw one a work a couple months ago in bike lot. It had two burned up looking fire extinguishers for a gas tank,a metal seat from a tractor I think and ratty paint. These here look real good compared to that piece....But to each their own right??

Dude.. don't fear those carbs!!! I'll get em working for you! :thumbup

I love goldwings, specially the old ones.. I'll clean, repair and tune up the carbs for you!

Heck.. I'll get em all running for you.. I used to be on the "CLS cycle wing ressurection team".. :laughing (I've worked on a LOT of wings) Some days that's all we'd have in the shop. There'd be so chrome and gizmo's reflecting in the sun light I'd have to wear sunglasses inside.. :laughing

Thinking of parting with one? Like the 79 or the 75?? :teeth I'll fix all the goldwing carbs you have and then some in trade for a ratted out wing. I miss my 79 ratwing.. :(

I'll even trade you a (soon to be cherry) 87 CR500R for one.. + a bunch of work..
