it could be either really, it seems a lot of the earlier wings got put on the side of the house at a young age for various reasons, and an equal number of them had the metaphorical wheels ridden off of them. at 18k it's barely broken in, and at 118k with good maintenance i'd expect another 80k miles out of the engine (electronics, etc etc might not keep up)
i have a
- 79 with ~29k on it and it's 99% original. it was ridden in the dawn of it's life then largely parked due to disinterest. i knew the original owner, and it's been waiting for me to resurrect it for about 2 years now. i fear the carbs
- 75 with 36k or so on it, has been monkeyed with a bit but other than cosmetics and some aftermarket ugly-as-sin hard bags it's original. also needs carb work but it does run sorta
- the other 79. it has a single carb conversion that runs like ass, i want to restore and flip it i think. nice bike, only about 50k miles i think.
- 76 that, at 58k miles, is by far the most used bike i own. i got it with a rat-chewed wiring harness but there is evidence that it was used extensively for touring when it was road worthy and cared for before being parked in Ratville. someday it might ride again
so, old goldwings are bitchin bikes with an interesting pedigree. and they're addiciting
Randakk's bike is nice but styling wise i'll take the Bulldog in a heartbeat
