Inspiration for women everywhere.

Lonster

I really like that fact that women are riding motorcycles! its good for many reasons LOL.. Hot chick + Hot Bike = SEXY TIME :leghump!!! lol :boobies

Like the last gal basically said, it takes more skill than strength and women don't have many disadvantages over men in the sport. I really don't know why more women don't do this. It's not masculine at all--in fact, bikes are more like bicycles and are smaller and easier to maneuver than a car. I find riding much more natural than driving. The clothing and the hair are a couple of issues that you have to work out--I've finally started wearing my hair down again after six years. Found a good stylist (thank you JenMonkey!) and now I only wear a ponytail if I want to--not because I have to.

I'm privately a little proud that I ride and I'm a woman, but that's only because so few of us do it. It won't be long before a woman riding is just like a woman driving--and no one will think twice about it <insert sexist joke here>. I've personally stopped thinking that being able to ride a bike is anything special regardless of gender.

its funny how they spend more time showing the chicks modeling in front of a camera than they show of them actually riding.

im sure the guy that directed that was like, 'riding?! who wants to see them riding? lets try to show them looking cute as women do! go ask them what size bikini they wear.'

oh and what's with the porn music during the photo shoots? :wtf

what's a stylist?

seriously, I can't believe it's 2010 and we're still talking about sex/gender or even "race" (which doesn't exist).

I still do prodigious amounts of canning, cooking, baking, quilting, gardening & sewing - and ride a motorcycle, program websites, paint & fix up stuff and go camping. I see no reason why any of that stuff should fall to any biological designation (esp since I am the same size as the "average" man anyway).

I realize that a good portion of the video was showing the "sexy" part about women riding, but I still thought it was geared toward women viewers. So in that way I don't think it's negative at all. Sort of a call to other women out there. "Hey look!" "You don't need to be masculine to ride." "Women ride, and they do while maintaining whoever they are, feminine or not."

Ya gotta start somewhere...:thumbup I think that a lot of us don't mind being thought of as sexy, but it's nice to be considered just another one of the riding crowd. When you're treated differently, you start to act differently--I've seen it here on BARF frequently, and I can't say that I've been immune. Thanks for posting the video and for doing it in a supportive and respectful way. I should have started off by saying that.

Thanks for posting it up - although I would have loved to see a lot more of their riding and what they do, it didn't bother me when I watched it, either...other than wanting more of that side of it lol!

Nothing wrong with feeling a little sexy now and then, anyways....since most of what I do/have done is typically things dominated by guys, I don't mind the occasion when I can feel a little sexy while doing something I love!

Leslie Porterfield is teh hotness :party

Men definitely don't have any advantages in this sport. It's all about skill, judgement and risk management, and endurance. If anything, women should be better off than men :laughing

It'd be nice to have a bunch more Leslie Porterfields 'round here :teeth

Hey, I just had to register to say thanks for posting this! :] Ever since I've considered riding motorcycle as an alternative to a buying a car I've been looking up videos on YT for women who rides but got nothing close to this video. I've never personally rode one before and is currently trying to persuade my parents into at least letting me take the MSF class to see if I even like riding a motorcycle but even that's tough since my stepdad's against it.

They'll still be making motorcycles when you're old enough to not check in with your parents about it. No need to have bad blood in the family over transportation--I've done a bunch of stuff that pisses my mom off by now, so topping it off with riding a motorcycle isn't a big deal. If I'd laid this on her when I was still in my teens her head might have exploded.

:thumbup Good to have you around! Be sure to look into some of the advice stickies to get you headed in the right direction. This one has a lot of good info in it, but there's lot's more in the training forum.

Try inviting the more adventurous parent to take the MSF BRC with you. Might be a fun way to spend some time together.

Though I'd never really had any thoughts on gender markedness for riding, I am really glad that in my first few days BARF showed me that there simply *isn't*.

Well actually I'll be 23 next month, haha..I've actually asked to let me take the class that'll be right on my birthdate. I'm getting the "Under my roof my rules" but I'm actually already renting with a relative. Go figure that eh? My mom shrugged it off at first but you know parents, they change their mind all the time. Thank you for your advice DucatiHoney :]

Also, thanks again badjoojoo I'll definitely read up on the How-To and all that bacon jazz! I don't think I can convince them to take the BRC with me :p

They are so cute and articulate! What about all us middle-age, fat and un-cute women on motorcycles???
you left out angry with cats :p

Scratch my previous advice: Move out and get a bike.
