Prior to taking delivery of the SP I was chatting with a friend about his camera truck that was in process of being completed. We mused over taking it out for some test runs and I would follow.
We had some drinks and others were brought into the project and it began to balloon into a much larger production. He had a friend with a CineFlex HD that was normally mounted to the front of a helicopter and was excited by the idea of shooting from a ground based vehicle.
I wrote a treatment and put together mood boards. We decided that Dainese would best be the costar of the show and pulled together a wardrobe.
We spent a total of 4 days shooting over a couple of weeks. First day was all running footage starting at 5am to get the sunrise and ending at 9pm to get the sunset. Two more days of running footage were shot and we spent a whole day shooting the garage sequence.
I then did 2 separate recording sessions with an amazing sound guy and had my bike looking like it had huge puffy zeppelins attached. The raw audio was so perfect I sat in my studio listening to the sounds...... lost.
Had a blast with a musician who pulled the music together in about 3 hours and start to finish less than a week.
Anywho... lots of stories around the production.
Biggest bummer about the shoot was my trailer was broken into the morning we were heading out to the redwood forest in Big Basin, then down to Big Sur, and the suit, helmet and gloves were stolen, thus totally fucking the rest of the production. I had posted a note in the gear section about the theft and was hoping to recover the stuff to finish the original vision of this project.
Tons of people to thank.
Let me know your thoughts both here and on Vimeo.
Cheers.
