Just got back from a few weeks of playing in the Sierra. Did some bike camping and dirt riding. I'll mosey on over to the Adventure forum and post a real ride report soon but until then here are a few snapshots...

No, I don't:laughing Nobody mapped it out for me! I grabbed a Sierra NF map and hopped on the bike :) The lakes, in order of appearance, are Wishon, Edison, Florence and Doris :thumbup

Great pics!

Thanks! It's so pretty out there all you gotta do is point and shoot in any direction and the result is bound to be beautiful.

You have the best freakin' camera...it's kinda ridiculous! :thumbup

Obviously being in the most beautiful BFE location ever helps a lot. :laughing

Great pics as always Woodschick. :thumbupCan't wait to read the trip report!

:laughing My camera is a Lumix point-and-shoot :) I might be getting a big ol' fancy camera in the end of September (Lost and Found at work :thumbup) but I'll have no clue what to do with it. I guess I should take a class or something :dunno

And yeah, it definitely helps to be shooting beautiful scenery :p

Here's one that most BARF'ers can relate to. I have no idea why there was a Frank Thomas roadracing boot screwed to this tree in the southern Sequoia NF on a black diamond motorcycle-only trail, but I thought it was interesting/funny enough to take a photo of it :laughing

It was both. We camped off the bikes for 3 days in the Giant Sequoia National Monument, and again later down in the Sequoia NF. We took off from our biking campsite and did some trailriding while bike camping, leaving the tent behind, and we did some straight-up dirtbiking on the 2-strokes. A little bit of everything :thumbup And yeah, temps were really nice...not too hot. It dropped to 32 one morning while bike camping but it was no big deal.

I started a report in the Adventure forum already :)

awesome pics. makes me want a dual sport so bad

Do it! You won't regret it! All the places pictured above (with the exception of the black diamond trail) can be done on streetbikes. Hell, we were on big heavy SM's with street-oriented tires and we had no issues...at least, not til later in the trip :teeth I can't imagine ever being without a bike that's both capable of ripping on pavement and capable of going where I want to go with it...which is usually in the dirt somewhere. The SM reigns supreme :hail

beautiful, thanks for sharing!

Thanks! The pleasure was all mine :thumbup

i am actually thinking about picking up a dual sport and heading down to caracas venezuela to visit friends that live down there.

That sounds like a fantastic idea :thumbup

i love that area. did you jump off the rocks at Doris? take a dip in the hotsprings?

I love that area, too!

I'd planned on jumping into the lake but the thunder and rains came so we beat a not-hasty-enough retreat. More to come on that in the ride report:teeth We also bypassed the springs this time since it was hot, but we've hit them all before. We played in the freezing river instead :)

Blast from the past! I miss this place. Pretty soon we'll be able to spend more time up there :teeth
