DuPont has changed the formulation of their Teflon multi-use lubricant and Webikeworld.com says it's no longer fit for use as a chain lube. Details here:

http://www.webbikeworld.com/t2/dupont-motorcycle-chain-lube-2012/

The DuPont Teflon Chain-Saver is still usable as a chain lube, but according to Webbikeworld is nowhere near as good as the old Teflon multi-lube. If you're a Teflon multi-lube lover and are inclined to hoarding, you may want to grab up a few cans.

Wow. That's sad to hear. Time to hit up Lowes and buy out the rest of what they've got.

I actually like the slightly thicker nature of the chain saver formula, but it's hard to find somebody who actually carries the chain saver product. Lowes does have the squirt bottles, just not the spray cans.

Best lube I've found in years, too. Shame T_T

:(

I'm heading over to Lowe's too after today's ride, and buying up a box or two.

Maybe three...

I have a couple of cans and one of the bottles. I guess when they're gone, I'll go back to Motul.

Make sure you look carefully at the label. They still make the "Teflon Multi-Use Lubricant" in the blue can. The difference in the labeling is subtle. You want to look for the words "Dry, wax lubricant"

In this photo - old version o the left, new version on the right.

Can anyone confirm if the old style is still on the shelves at Lowes? Their website only has the new formula...

Boeshield is the original and is still unchanged... wax compounds in a solvent base so it dries clean

this is the replacement
But it says "dry" on the bottle. The "new" version is advertised as a "wet" lube. After doing some research, it appears the new and old formula use the same sku# so buying online is a gamble since you don't know which one you'll actually get. That's a shame since I found a retailer is selling them for $3.86 online--I called and they couldn't confirm which one I would receive.

Eh..I been getting the yellow chain saver stuff from walmart for years. Its not a bad as the site makes it out to be.

No loss here. that said, walmart also carries the dupot chain clean and my 20w 50 oil so it a one stop shop for me.

Bummer. I like this stuff. So when it runs out, and when all you hoarders have run out of your stash, what's the next best thing to use as a chain lube?

I'm a yellow canner myself so no loss on my end. Was worried for a second there though.

Walmart carries the yellow lube in a spray can?

I mean... I absolutely hate shopping there. If that's the case, I'm kinda tempted to pull up my boot straps and make a run to pick up a few cans... but christ.

Walmart.

Sketchasfuck-o-meter off the scale every time I set foot in that place.

So the DuPont Chain-Saver (yellow can) does not fling off or attract dust/dirt? That's the biggest selling point to their Dry-Wax lubricant (blue can) to me.

.

That's where I buy it

Been using it for that past 4k miles and so far it's the best chain lube I've used yet. My chain is clean and has 0 fling off in my case.

I hardly ever lube my chain yet still seem to get a long life from them. What am I doing wrong?
