The Patriot Riders will be escorting me & Gary J (his ashes) to his Celebration of Life on Sunday 6/10 at Pescadero State Beach.

The meet up location is the Valero Gas Station at 5451 Scotts Valley Drive in Scotts Valley at 10:45 a.m. The group will leave the station at 11:00 a.m.

The route will be Hwy 17 south to Hwy 1 north up to Pescadero State Beach for the Celebration of Life gathering.

The Patriot Riders have told me anyone who wants to participate in the ride is welcome to join!

I look forward to seeing many of you at the beach and at our home afterwards for the BBQ! Please come to both or either! My garage will be open until the last guest leaves that night.

Love to ride with those guys and you.

Hope to join.. if not see you all in Pescadero.

Would love to join in on this but I'll be coming from an all night fundraising event (moto crew) in SF so will see you and the PGR folks there. What an awesome escort! :thumbup

Sweet, I wasn't sure they'd have enough time to put it together. I'm glad it's going to work out. :)

Here's the Mission notice that is posted on the PGR website:
The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to give Final Honors and

This is a technical route, but we'll be riding at a casual pace.

Budman just FYI'd me on this so we're gonna try to make it before the briefing and ride with you to the beach. :)

Jim and I are taking off from Saratoga 76 around 10:10 if anyone wants to join.

I just can't do the Scotts Valley ride. I will be bawling in my helmet the whole way.

I hope to be able to attend, as a newer rider I have to figure the best way to get there from Fremont without taking the freeways or as little as possible. If I can attend I'll try to get to Scott's Valley or Pescadero. If family stuff prevents me from attending then you have my best wishes and I'll be there in spirit.

Safe riding

:rip Gary J

You say a technical route, newer riders should not take this one?

No, they shouldn't. The route isn't newbie friendly, sorry. There are other rides going to Pescadero, though.

If your'e a new rider, I would not recommend participating in the escort. While escorts don't travel at high speeds or do super technical stuff, you may, at times need exceptional control at very low speeds.

WARNING:
A big Tour de Cure 120k bicycle route will be sharing HW84 and Pascadero road and others Sunday during our GaryJ ride.
Ride Safe.

"I've posted this on the BATS group ride for Gary J's memorial ride, just want to precaution you all that there will be a huge cycling event fundraiser ride called Tour De Cure in that very area many group rides are planning their route on.
Just a PSA so you can have your Plan B's in check if these roads are either closed off or miserable riding. The longest ride which is 120 miles has cyclist on the route until 4ish (more like 5pm).
For their map, check the website: http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR/Tou...ional&sid=1061
Please ride safe and respectful! I'd hate for something to happen on a memorial ride. "
