Honda has officially confirmed it will be putting a road-going version of the RC213V into production for 2014 as it tries to give a massive boost of excitement to the Honda brand.

Honda boss Takanobu Ito made the announcement on today (Friday) in Tokyo as part of a bigger speech outlining the future of the firm. The RC213V production bike being presented as a halo bike which will be hugely expensive and strictly limited in numbers.

This is definitely not a replacement for the CBR1000RR Fireblade and will be more akin to the £40,000 Ducati Desmosedici RR which sold out and was built in bigger numbers than first planned despite a massive price tag.

Fuck me. Honda's pulling out all the stops to finally get me to own one of their bikes! :laughing

I mean, just look at this beauty...

Nice shot. Watching him beat the little guys on the 250 was even better. I loved that stuff.

I swore my next bike would not be a sportbile, NOR a Honda. Now this has to pop up. I am still good, I think, unless Stoner gives lessons with every purchase. :(

i'm wondering what the pricetag will be, if close to the 80K of the D16

40,000GBP which is $65,100, similar to what the NR750 costs when it came out.

Bikesport had some quotes where HRC said basically it'll be a showpiece for Honda technology and engineering, just like the RC30 and so many others back in the day.

Looks like Honda got tired of getting sand kicked in their faces by Aprilia and BMW.

I'm sure it will sell to the uber rich folks, but man - they need to make a common road-going and somewhat affordable RCV bike!
