OK so I for sure am of the thinking that when it comes to doing trackdays:
Van > Truck
and that getting the job done w/o a trailer, is ALWAYS better

So. I need a van that I can put a Yamaha R6 sized sportbike in. So really, its gotta have a flat, or semi flat rear floor. Whatever van we get, the rear seats will be taken out to fit the bike, we dont plan to really ever have them in.
Must be V6 kinda power.
I want fairly new, as new as possible really.
Dont really wanna spend more than $12k, but might for the right vehicle.
I really dont wanna buy Amercan; all my tools are metic, and I trust Azian brands more anyway.

I've thought of a 01 02 03 VW Eurovan VR6, its really perfectly sized, low deck height - but plagued w/ transmission issues, and I dont really feel comfortable working on them.

Honda Odyssey doesnt have a flat bottom from what I can tell.

Sprinter van is too big (Violet wants a more normal sized van)

The Nissan Quest is pretty sweet with the windows in the rear roof, but again, not a flat bottom, hard to get a bike into and out of

The only thing I can see good for the job given your criteria is the Ford Transit Connect.

American brands haven't used SAE fasteners anywhere easily for over a decade.

You could get a Dodge Sprinter...which is a Mercedes anyways, so you know everything will be metric.

^^^ yup

and as said, Sprinter is getting too big
the NV is getting too big as well, but Violet is cool with the NV for some reason - but again, no way no how can you touch one for anywhere near $12k. you can bairly touch one for double that.
A Sprinter you can at least kinda be in the ballpark with $12k... kinda

I thought of the Ford Aerostar, but it is a ford, and they are hella old now, which means problems will occur. and its a ford; so thats 3 strikes (being Ford counts as two).

the Ford transit isnt a bad idea, but we *really* want windows all around. thing is, its gotta drive *kinda* like a car, as its gotta be something that Violet feels comfortable driving.

I've been looking at vans for a long time, just cant seem to find one that fits said criteria - hoping you BARFers know of something that I dont (not likely :twofinger)

A friend of mine hauls his bikes in a Toyota Previa. They are pretty old now though.

But they are Mid-engine and rear wheel drive; like a Ferrari :laughing

Previa baby! :laughing

not a bad idea tho.... will look into it...

That's pretty impressive actually. I'd love to see more minivans being used to cart mechanical kids around and not just kids on their way to soccer practice. It's an untapped market yo.

You're making this too complicated, get a Ford E and be done with it. I'd rather run the risk of breaking down with probably the most common parts you can find rather than breaking down in one of those other options

Ford E series van is perfect for our needs, except its too big for Violet to drive around as an "easy" van to drive. waaay too big

cycle61, thats pretty gosh darn tootin' impressive! what year is your Odyssey?
looks like you gotta remove the windscreens from the bike(s) to fit them, correct?
dont the rear seats fold into the rearmost part of the floor? if so, isnt that a lot of weight to be putting on them (both rear wheels of each bike) ?
