It's something I learned this morning but couldn't believe.

Andy Sills, a local motorcycle celebrity was killed near his home in Kirkwood. From what I understand, it was in a solo motorcycle crash.

Heartfelt condolences to Erin, his partner and wife, with whom he set a two up land speed record.

Andy, we'll miss your funny stories. The world just got a little emptier.

BMW gave these details for a memorial and family wishes.

Today we learned that one of our very best friends, Andy Sills, has passed away. To attempt to adequately summarize what Andy meant to me, Larry and all of us here at BMWMCSF would be utterly futile but I will say that Andy was one of the most passionate and compassionate people I have had the privilege to know. That we shared a love for motorcycles was merely a bonus. For those that knew or knew of Andy Sills and would like to pay their respects, a celebration of his life will be held concurrently with his being laid to rest this Friday (2/27) at Mountain View Cemetary in Oakland at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, Andy's family has asked that donations be made to NPR and/or Riders For Health in Andy's name. Godspeed, Andy!

My deepest sympathies to all his friends and especially his family.

So sorry, G. Didn't know Andy, but can't help but know I missed something meaningful. :rose

Very sad for his surviving family and friends. Sounds like a man who lived life to the fullest and was well cared for...

Shiiiiiiiit. This one is heavy.

I met Andy when he literally chased me down in SF one day when he saw I was riding a Brammo; he wanted to know everything about it (and those of you who know me know that I will actually tell anybody who listens everything about it). We stood there sweating in full gear on the sidewalk yammering about stupid bike stuff for so long, I was about an hour late back to work that day. I didn't even know he was such a salt flats badass until other people told me.

The absolute nicest possible guy. What a loss.

Very sad news. :( My condolences to his family and friends. :rip Andy

RIP Andy Sills. We may have met, we might have met, we will still meet, in times and futures places we do not yet know of or understand. I wish you a smooth and restful transition and peace and deep kindness to you loved ones, family and friends.

So sorry to hear this. I used to work with his son. He sounded like a helluva guy.

I woke up this morning with such a heavy heart. I was hoping it wasn't real but it is. As soon as I hear details for a memorial I will post.

RIP Andy Sills

Shit, I met Andy for the very first time recently, him on his new waterhead R1200GS. Insisted I sit on it, chatted for too short a time in retrospect.

RIP, Andy.
