ladies: ever have a random creepy dude on a moto follow you?

So on her way to the UCSC campus a lady friend of mine was followed by a dude on a SS 600gixerhondasaki oragami bike. He caught a glimpse of her while she going the opposite direction.

From what I gather, what she saw in her rearview mirror, dude stopped and turned around and proceeded to follow her for quite some time.

Dude eventually caught up to her after some lane splitting and tried to make convo at stoplight. She registered his intent but couldn't hear him as she had noise canceling head phones on.

She takes off and the dude again continues to follow her. Feeling creeped out, she rode directly to UCSC campus police station.

Sure enough, dude sees this, turns around and leaves.

Have any of you barf ladies experience this?

Is this a known thing that happens to women that ride motos?

Hasn't happened to me thankfully. That's creepy.

Suggestion...

If this happens maybe hold up the left hand (glove on) and point to the ring finger and wave off the advance.

If the testosterone fueled cranial-rectal inversion persists maybe the one handed barf salute next.

I actually saw this happen, the 1st time we did the DGR. Young woman on a new bonneville wearing a vintage skirt and go go boots showed up. Guy on a sport bike coming the other way pulls a u turn across 4 lanes of blvd and 'joins the ride'. Wouldn't leave her alone when we stopped for lunch, she was obviously uncomfortable. So we told him to leave. She said it wasn't the first time, and she didn't really like to ride alone anymore.

might try carrying one of those cheep chain/cable bicycle locks. stop get off bike lock there front tire, get back on your bike very fast and get the H out of there.
cling-on is wiped off. :teeth

Yes. I've been followed by guys on bikes, and even guys in cars/trucks. With the guys on the bikes, it's never progressed beyond trying to talk to me at a stoplight... it's amazing how effective it is when you flip your visor up, stare with all the hate you can muster, and then roll your eyes and shake your head.
They immediately think "Bitch!" and go away. :teeth
The guys in cars I've just lane split away from. Last time was in Sacramento, guy in a Mustang, about a month ago. He was a little more persistent, which was a little disconcerting, but I figured if I had to, I could always just go straight back to the shop where my bike was being worked on.

I'm guessing it's either younger guys, who don't understand that their behavior is frightening, because they haven't been around women long enough to learn that, or men who are just wired wrong and don't care that they might be making the woman uncomfortable. :dunno

:rofl :rofl awesome...

Yikes. Karbon, it sounds like your friend needs to have that old guy on the scooter follow her around, cock-blocking all of the horny little leghumpers. :laughing

In all seriousness, that sort of behavior is pretty alarming. I'm glad your friend had the presence of mind to ride to the police station.

This thread is weirding me out, I had no idea! :wtf

I have, on rare occasions, been paced by dudes. Usually in cars and usually not an issue as I can motor away pretty easily--nobody has been all that persistent or threatening.
The exception was a guy I flipped off (I don't remember why)back when I was just a noob, he was enraged! He paced me the length of Great Highway and was screaming at me the entire time, weaving around in his big 'ol convertible. This was a good lesson for me--don't flip people off because some people will fly off the handle at the slightest provocation, it just isn't worth the risk. Also, this had nothing to do with me being a chick on a bike.

Now, those are my experiences in the United States, a few incidents spread over many years. In Pakistan, there were a few incidents within a few weeks. Same sort of thing, guys in a car or guys on bikes pacing me--you do not see women on bikes there, so I attracted attention.
The problem was I couldn't get away from anyone! My mighty 12hp steed was no faster than any other bike or car on the road, and I certainly could not outrun them with my skillz.

I have been followed home (and to work) easily a half dozen times by random dudes wanting to hump the Brammo.

Kinda thought it would go away after crashing it and switching back to commuting on a plebeian gas bike . . . turns out an MV Agusta was probably not the best choice. Literally within a week of owning it got followed home again.

If only I could figure out a way to get followed home by over-interested girls instead!

Seriously it would be fun to get stalked by the women and have an excuse to ride faster on public roads. Or not ride away at all ;)
