Hey Guys and Gals,
My Yamaha SRX-250 is up for sale!
This is a light weight, one production year only motorcycle that has a 250cc "thumper" engine. Yamaha built these to compete with the Kawasaki Ninja, however the US market was not receptive to the smaller 250cc engine. Therefore, the SRX-250 was only sold in the US for one year - 1987. This little bike has a cult following now in the US, as small light weight 250cc sport bikes are finally gaining popularity. The SRX-250 also oozes 80's styling, with its livery and fairings. This is a rare California edition that came with emissions equipment to be sold in California. Bringing one of these in from outside of California can be a headache with the DMV due to mileage and emissions requirements for motorcycles.
This SRX-250 is very original and is in good riding condition. The person I purchased it from used to ride it everyday for transportation in the City. I've used it sparingly on the weekends for fun, but now have no time to enjoy it anymore. It had a new battery, headlight, and the starter rebuilt last year. It starts right up every time and is a blast to ride. The previous owner used to ride it on the highway down to San Jose and back to San Francisco occasionally, although the bike is not a great highway cruiser. It is an amazing canyon carver though. The only problem with the bike is that the front tire valve stem leaks air, requiring the tire to be filled before riding. The tires are almost new, so a new valve stem should fix the problem.
The bike also comes with:
- Over $200 in new carburetor parts for a carburetor refresh
- High-quality Nelson-Rigg fitted outdoor motorcycle cover
- Kryptonite bike lock and key
- Copy of the complete OEM service manual
- Original copy of 1987 Cycle magazine with a feature article on the SRX-250
Clean title in my name, just renewed registration.
Price: $1800
