SOLD! Beks has a new bike.
This bike has been my daily commuter, long range traveler and occasional trail bike for the 4 ½ years I’ve had it. It’s a near-perfect all-rounder, and I’m only selling it because I’m upgrading to what I think will be an even-closer-to-perfect all-rounder / tall-rounder—an R1200GS.
This is a very well set-up R1200R with tons of upgrades—ready to roll for just about anything. It’s nice, but not perfect. Can you eat off of it? No. It’s a motorcycle, not a dinner plate. It has about 36k on it, and is perfectly reliable. I wouldn’t hesitate to take it across the US or on a three-pass run tomorrow morning.
I’m sure I’ve forgotten some stuff, but I’ll repeat: this is an extremely well set-up R1200R Classic. KBB shows $10,255 for retail and $7,280 trade-in. I’m looking for $7,800, which is more than fair considering the level of bike you're getting and how well set up this one is. If you want an R1200R, you should buy this kickass bike now and go riding, instead of screwing around with the inferior, cheaper Rs out there or the overpriced garage queens.
PM with questions. Please include a phone number if you’re serious.
Update: price reduction. I'm getting lots of nibbles but no real bites, so I've concluded that my price was too high. So I've dropped the price to $7,800. I'm not desperate to sell, but I'm also running out of room and have a new bike coming home Tuesday.

- I’m the original owner and have all docs / maintenance records.
- It has factory heated grips, ABS and traction control, plus the stupid “computer” that BMW charges extra for that is basically a trip-meter.
- Tires are Michelin PR4s. The rear is a GT with probably 2,000 miles on it, and the front is brand new, just put on today.
- I converted the stock spoked wheels to tubeless using the Outex system. I also installed a Doran tire pressure monitoring system, sensors inside the wheels. I’ll throw in some tubes too, in case you’re not willing to trust some bearded stranger’s tubeless conversion job.
- Protection: GS skidplate, Machine Art Moto cylinder head protectors and a Wunderlich swingarm protector nubbin.
- Booster plug installed for better off-idle response.
- Kaoko throttle lock / manual cruise control.
- Stock standard height (I think) “comfort seat” is on the bike now, and is what I’ve ridden it with almost 100% of the time. It’s a great seat—good for full days in the saddle. I also have a stock “sport” seat of unknown height—I’m guessing standard.
- Currently has the BMW “touring” screen on it, which was the best combination of wind protection and not-quite-hugeness that I could find. The bike also comes with the stock “sport” screen, two Cee Bailey screens and a California Scientific screen, plus another complete touring screen mounting frame.
- Hand protection is provided by Wunderlich “Clear Protect” handguards.
- Cockpit has a USB port, the readout for the TPMS, and a Touratech locking GPS mount for a Garmin Zumo 660. GPS isn’t included, but I might be willing to sell it along with the bike.
- Skene P3 lights on the back, and Inertia LEDs (CANBUS compliant) in all the signals.
- All the added electronic stuff is routed through a Fuzeblock.
- Upgraded controls include Pazzo adjustable levers and Touratech / LSL footpegs.
- Bike has stock sidecases with color-matched black lids. Current luggage setup is these cases with the bigger stock luggage grid and a Touratech rack that has been cut / drilled to accommodate a Givi topcase. It’s ugly when there’s not a topcase on it (see photos), but guess what? I have an uncut / undrilled extra Touratech rack that comes with the bike, too. I will also include the stock BMW luggage grid and original abbreviated luggage setup, which is sidecase rails and grab handles instead of a grid.
- Cee Bailey sidecase liners and SW-Motech / Bags Connection tank bag and mounting ring.
- I still have all the stock stuff that’s been replaced, plus a lot of miscellaneous bits and bobs.
