• ZERO- WHERE DID MY AD GO?
    • It has likely been deleted for running egregiously afoul of the rules below. Feel Free to try again

1- DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SELL THE FOLLOWING ON BARF:
    • animals, though free re-homing is ok.
    • anything illegal.
    • drugs, legal or not.

2- Sellers, for best results... please read and follow these instructions:

    • Asking price [MANDATORY] in the BODY ONLY. DO NOT PUT PRICE IN THE TITLE
      • motorcycle or other vehicle:
        - make [MANDATORY]
        - model [MANDATORY]
        - year [MANDATORY]
        - Pictures [FIRST THING THAT WILL BE ASKED FOR IF YOU DON'T, BUT NOT MANDATORY]
        - mileage
        - title info
        - current condition
        - maintenance history
        - accident history
        - location
      • If selling riding gear, include:
        - size in the title of the thread. [MANDATORY]
        - in your post, include: intended gender/body weight/height/inseam/waist range that best fits the item.

    • Do not include the price in the title. You won't be able to edit it later. Put the price in the body of your post.
    • DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO 3RD PARTY SALES SITES Copy/paste your ad to BARF and make sure it includes the info above.
    • Edit your original post and change the price there... many buyers will not look beyond that point if you change the price later on further into the thread. Also, remember to add SOLD to first line of the first post when the item has been sold.
    • Please use the "Report this post to a moderator" (
      report.gif
) option at the lower left portion of the post if item is sold or to report erroneous posts or threads, and it will be taken care of.
    • With any indication that an item is sold, the thread will be locked by moderators. It is not fair to other valid ads to be pushed down the list when side discussions bump a sold ad to the top of the list. Moderators will do their best in changing the title and adding a 'sold' to the beginning of the title to save a few clicks for others.

    3- Buyers, BEWARE!!!

    • Pricing - Know the current market value of the bike. Check Kelly Blue book, NADA, CycleTrader, Ebay, Craigslist (even though some people on Craigslist are asking non-realistically high prices and will never be able to sell the bike at their asking price), and know what the current market value of a similar bike is before considering a purchase. Consider the maintenance work or fixes that YOU need to do to the bike, and factor that into the price. It is ok to pay more for a bike that has had all of the maintenance work done to it recently, or pay less and get a bike that needs some work, but you must know this in advance and be ok with it.
    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.
    • Some additional tips: You can find some more useful info here: http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216958

4- DO NOT make your opinion known in the seller's ad

    • Comments within a sale thread should be on topic and educational. Aggressive critiques and inside jokes will not be tolerated. Constructive dialogue is a valuable feature of the barf classifieds section and community as a whole. Flame wars and unsubstantiated accusations help neither seller or buyer. Don't fuck it up, because the next step is disabling the "reply" feature entirely.
    • If you disagree with a price, keep it to yourself. The seller has set the price. If you don't like it, don't buy it and move on. If you really feel strongly about it, then PM the seller.
    • If you are interested in an item, feel free to PM, email or contact the seller privately. Feel free to post if you need clarification... however, your post should be in line with above mentioned rules.
    • If you are aware of a serious issue with an ad (SPAM, stolen goods, a frame damaged bike being advertised as a 'never crashed' bike, etc.) please PM a moderator about it.

5- DO NOT SPAM the classifieds section on BARF

    • Spamming entails using only the classifieds sections of BARF without taking part in other sections of BARF (regardless of whether the ad is for a personal item or a business.) The appeal of BARF classifieds is to enable and connect BARFers with some established history on BARF to one another.

BARF isn't craigslist, ebay, cycletrader, etc. Buyers who are looking to buy from random strangers do so on one of the above mentioned sites. Those who only post in Classifieds sections and don't take part in other parts of BARF are no different than any other random sellers on Craigslist, etc., and should use channels other than BARF to try and sell their items.
    • If you're affiliated with a store/shop, please contact budman regarding sponsorship options. ALL non-sponsor commercial posts will be deleted. Site sponsors should post using only one account that is assigned a BARF SPONSOR tag.
    • We encourage the use of the classifieds by active contributing members. New members may post in the Classifieds forum after establishing minimal history on BARF (15 days and 15 posts). If you actively attempt to circumvent these minimum requirements only to post in classifieds, your account may be suspended. After reaching these minimums, posting only in the classifieds without taking part in other sections of BARF may result in being banned from BARF.

6- DO NOT repost funny/strange/not-related-to-you ads from Craigslist or elsewhere on BARF or anywhere else for that matter.
    • No reposting
    • No reposting
    • No reposting. If what you're about to post isn't for sale BY YOU, don't post it.

    7- SELLING FOR A FRIEND:
    • Is not allowed.

    8- Feeler, Testing Waters etc:
    • Is no longer allowed.

      • If you are unsure of the fair price of your item, use the search function to research other similar items, ebay, craigslist, nadaguides, kelly blue book or whatever else is applicable. The classifieds section is not a discussion forum, thus not the place to be asking for opinions on market value that might lead to massive gray areas of conversation that violate preceding rules outlined above.
  • There has been a recent cluster of spammers accessing BARFer accounts and posting spam. To safeguard your account, please consider changing your password. It would be even better to take the additional step of enabling 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) on your BARF account. Read more here.

SOLD! Beks has a new bike. :ride

This bike has been my daily commuter, long range traveler and occasional trail bike for the 4 ½ years I’ve had it. It’s a near-perfect all-rounder, and I’m only selling it because I’m upgrading to what I think will be an even-closer-to-perfect all-rounder / tall-rounder—an R1200GS.

This is a very well set-up R1200R with tons of upgrades—ready to roll for just about anything. It’s nice, but not perfect. Can you eat off of it? No. It’s a motorcycle, not a dinner plate. It has about 36k on it, and is perfectly reliable. I wouldn’t hesitate to take it across the US or on a three-pass run tomorrow morning.

  • I’m the original owner and have all docs / maintenance records.
  • It has factory heated grips, ABS and traction control, plus the stupid “computer” that BMW charges extra for that is basically a trip-meter.
  • Tires are Michelin PR4s. The rear is a GT with probably 2,000 miles on it, and the front is brand new, just put on today.
  • I converted the stock spoked wheels to tubeless using the Outex system. I also installed a Doran tire pressure monitoring system, sensors inside the wheels. I’ll throw in some tubes too, in case you’re not willing to trust some bearded stranger’s tubeless conversion job.
  • Protection: GS skidplate, Machine Art Moto cylinder head protectors and a Wunderlich swingarm protector nubbin.
  • Booster plug installed for better off-idle response.
  • Kaoko throttle lock / manual cruise control.
  • Stock standard height (I think) “comfort seat” is on the bike now, and is what I’ve ridden it with almost 100% of the time. It’s a great seat—good for full days in the saddle. I also have a stock “sport” seat of unknown height—I’m guessing standard.
  • Currently has the BMW “touring” screen on it, which was the best combination of wind protection and not-quite-hugeness that I could find. The bike also comes with the stock “sport” screen, two Cee Bailey screens and a California Scientific screen, plus another complete touring screen mounting frame.
  • Hand protection is provided by Wunderlich “Clear Protect” handguards.
  • Cockpit has a USB port, the readout for the TPMS, and a Touratech locking GPS mount for a Garmin Zumo 660. GPS isn’t included, but I might be willing to sell it along with the bike.
  • Skene P3 lights on the back, and Inertia LEDs (CANBUS compliant) in all the signals.
  • All the added electronic stuff is routed through a Fuzeblock.
  • Upgraded controls include Pazzo adjustable levers and Touratech / LSL footpegs.
  • Bike has stock sidecases with color-matched black lids. Current luggage setup is these cases with the bigger stock luggage grid and a Touratech rack that has been cut / drilled to accommodate a Givi topcase. It’s ugly when there’s not a topcase on it (see photos), but guess what? I have an uncut / undrilled extra Touratech rack that comes with the bike, too. I will also include the stock BMW luggage grid and original abbreviated luggage setup, which is sidecase rails and grab handles instead of a grid.
  • Cee Bailey sidecase liners and SW-Motech / Bags Connection tank bag and mounting ring.
  • I still have all the stock stuff that’s been replaced, plus a lot of miscellaneous bits and bobs.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten some stuff, but I’ll repeat: this is an extremely well set-up R1200R Classic. KBB shows $10,255 for retail and $7,280 trade-in. I’m looking for $7,800, which is more than fair considering the level of bike you're getting and how well set up this one is. If you want an R1200R, you should buy this kickass bike now and go riding, instead of screwing around with the inferior, cheaper Rs out there or the overpriced garage queens.

PM with questions. Please include a phone number if you’re serious.

Update: price reduction. I'm getting lots of nibbles but no real bites, so I've concluded that my price was too high. So I've dropped the price to $7,800. I'm not desperate to sell, but I'm also running out of room and have a new bike coming home Tuesday.

Don't you read?! :twofinger

Bwhahaha, I read everything EXCEPT the first paragraph.

I'm going to pass this along to a few folks I think might be interested. You picking up a new GS?

Thanks man! Yeah, 2016 Triple Black. Pretty stoked. :ride

Raaaaaad. Only spent about 1k miles on a 1200GS, but it was a fun bike.

Are you opening a line of credit at touratech?

Nah... I have some Wunderlich and Touratech stuff on my R and a lot of the Touratech stuff is sort of meh. I'm planning to just hammer on it a while and see what it needs.

Holy wall of text batman. You're looking for an avid reader, THEN a bmw buyer. I have no idea if that's a rare combination or not.

It's 600-ish words, man. Are we really that far gone from literacy? :laughing

Would it be better if I just put "BMW. Lots of stuff. Trust me."?

Yes, but you're trying to sell something in the PornHub reality. You have to grab them and grab hard.

Asking price
title/registration status
Make
model
year

[Wall of text]

that's what most people care about (make model year ought be part.of your thread title anyway but being The Press, you probably understand the delicate dance of reading comprehension and repetition better than most, thus why i should be repeated in the body of your thread) making them scan all the way to the bottom to decipher your Shakespearean math eventually arriving at an asking price...

in summation, can I have a job?

No

I'll delete this in the morning because it's way off topic. Yay gewurtztraminer?

sweet bike no doubt.

:laughing I'm "the press" and a marketer at my "real job" too. I totally get brevity. The difference here is I'm not looking to snag someone who is just looking for "a bike," but rather this model. If they're looking for an R1200R, then they'll likely have done some research on the bike and may have an idea about good upgrades and such. The list of additional stuff sets it apart and keeps me from having to verbally fill people in over and over. :thumbup

You guys are way off topic. Posts reported. :twofinger

I rode a buddy's similar Beemer last spring. It was intuitive and handled like a dream... As all bmw bikes seem to do. Good luck with the sale Surj and i hope you love your next bike as much as you enioyed this one. If i could afford it I'd be all over something like this. :)

No kidding, right? Where's the Classifieds mod? :rofl

"Intuitive and handled like a dream" - This is exactly it. It's not a supersport, but for general street riding, especially on roads you don't know, the Telelever front end is hard to beat. I'm just buying another Telelever Boxer (a GS) with a bit more wind protection, a bit more legroom, and a bit more suspension travel. For anyone that doesn't want a (taller) ADV bike, this thing is the perfect all-rounder.

What? No Shitty Bike swag? :D

Ok, ok. You drive a hard bargain. Free CityBike shirt for whoever rides away on this sweet li'l thang.

Sorry man, the VFR is still too good to let go. You're going to have to find someone else for this one. Good luck!

:laughing That's right. You got the VFR when I got this. Glad to hear you're still digging it.

And bumpty-dumpty on this thread. Someone come make me a reasonable offer and I'll throw in the Garmin Zumo 660.
