France; Passing Blindly

Riders fault for assuming but thats a pretty horrible road block setup there .. wow .. even at the 5s mark when rider was visible on cam and still in the far lane .. the roadblock didnt show up yet on cam.

sad peps are in way too much of a hury these days.

hope the ride is going to be ok as he took a big hit.

.

Damn, sure, rider didn't make a good call, but that's a horrible road block set up - no cones or anything preceding a solid object sitting taking up the ENTIRE lane!

the rider missed the sign for the roadblock because it was blocked by the truck

When I was younger, I did something similar in a car and luckily had the room and time to swerve into the emergency lane. And, again, luckily there was no one or anything there.

He had already passed one marker truck, but as Tharkûn said there were no cones blocking the lane.

Never assume

Ouch .. again its another big rig blocking the view. Lesson learned.

I think maintaining appropriate sight lines for speed & maneuvers is the idea. Application of this varies, as do the results.

BTW, the rule (and I believe the law) is to straighten your wheels before making a second lane merge.

Really, it is so tempting to flow your ride, make a two lane pass around this truck. That's why I try not to flow when I am commuting. I stay tense and alert at all times.
