Keena Reeves rented Laguna on Monday and went riding. He rides a sport bike according to my bud Dante. (wearing the red and white leathers in the pics).

Keena and Kenny are friends and since Kenny is the bad ass he is, he rolled out his 1980 C'ship winning 500 bike. Dante got to ride it and thinks it is awwwwesssoooommmmmeeee! :ride :banana

I got a little vid clip of Dante screaming by on the bike. What a rare opportunity. The rider mounted on the bike in the linked pic is Shakey Bryne if you care...:laughing

Dante is below.

What's the tab for renting Laguna for a weekday?
Would be cool to compare a Kenny hot lap with that 500 vs Kenny on an R1 vs Kenny on an M1, all in the name of funning around.

:thumbup

That bike is only for those who truly embrace the notion of riding fast and taking chances.

Long live the King!

yea i wonder what it costs

I wonder what It cost to rent the track for the day?
Got a bunch of money burning a hole in my pocket. :p
Looks like there was lots of magic in the air!:thumbup

As a huge fan of Fast Bikes mag from early 00's I'd be more excited to meet Shakey than Keanu Reeves.

I had a vhs of Shakey Bryne and crew terrorizing the backroads of France on a TL1000R and a 916. Back in the day before youube

Saw Kenny race that bike against Freddie Spencer's TZ750 in 1980!

I think back when WERA rented out California Speedway for their event, it was like $15,000 (it may have been $30, but for some reason I think $15K). Either way, it was one of their more expensive tracks that they went to, and one reason they didn't come back. I can't imaging Willow Springs big track, or SoW being anywhere near that.

That was the base price, and then these were added on from there, depending on what staff and such you wanted, etc.

I have vague memory of Michael Jordan paying $5K for facilities back when he was getting in to the sport.

So, anyway, those are just ball park numbers. Whether they correlate at all to reality is a different issue.

My memory is bad but I think Big Willow was 2500 a day, plus corner workers. plus ambulance (not cheap, and you had to have a million dollar liability policy. That was a decade ago or a tad more. The Cal Speedway was more, I'm thinking 5000 a day, safety crew included.

It's over eight g's for Laguna plus extras, the last I checked. Still not that much money, really. Since this was a business expense, the whole thing will be written off the company taxes and cost Reeves nothing. No one invites ME to these free-bees. I just ain't cute, fast, or famous enough. :( (Three groups of thirty riders at $250 a pop is $22500. Right?).

Sorry. I see that the rates were already posted.

There were quite a few riding celebs there, including, I think, our Berto.

Laguna is expensive, Thill is as little as $3000 in off season.

Berto, JR, WR, the King a 2 Stroke that deserves biblical verse. :wtf what else do you need for 2 wheel - 2 stroke lore??

We have 2 wheel legend. 2 wheel life and glory and that is what is required for 2 wheeled legend. Check the box. Wish we were there. :teeth

Berto was there, might have had a dead battery for a while:twofinger. Shakey ripped the 500 around, but that pic Budman posted is not of him on it- he's skinnier/diff leathers/helmet. Shakey got that front tire warmed up properly. Said the bike wasn't as hard to ride as he anticipated, or as scary/sketchy. Super nice guy.

Yeah.. I confused you all. I clarified my post...Shakey was sitting on the bike in the group photo (in the link and now below) and the pic in my first post is Dante D.
