I love the idea of a high performance EV motorcycle. I have looked at that bike in person and its nice.

The Zero SR is very quick, but Its not designed for racing. In a couple of laps on a big track, it will dial back power to prevent overheating. I think single speed is the way to go, but for the Zero that means 102 MPH max speed.

DC fast charring capability is nice too. A Zero could do that, but the public DC fast chargers don't support Zero's relitivily lower voltage battery (~102 V), which is the chargers fault because according to the DC fast charging specs, they should support lower voltage.

I am concerned that Lightning is not a sustainable company yet and I wonder how much runway they have left. I think Zero even has a sustainability problem.

This, the Pike’s Peak winner, is not the bike I rode.

You should expect a lawsuit from Lars Ulrich anytime now. Also the link did not direct to the article, just to a non-linking list of articles and sections of that back issue, FYI.

It's cool, me and Lars are tight. I got stabbed at a Metallica show back in the Eighties.

The link goes to the June 2015 back issue page. That article isn't online separately. You'll have to turn a few virtual pages. Oh, the humanity.

It is a sexy bike. The styling is exquisite.

Saw it at BMW bike night

Its not really a mainstream motorcycle it like an exotic motorcycle, more exclusive than the Energicas.

What I rode was a Grom killer they are developing. Same size as a Grom, lighter, with waaaaay more power. Geared tall so it didn't do anything scary off the bottom. LHRB, so no foot controls.

Prototype, so no pics. Really friendly, easy to ride bike. This could change motorcycling. Bad idea, but you could ride in flip flops.

I can’t imagine how easy the DMV test would be on the Lightning Mini Killer.

Sounds fun!

I think only the electric crowd will understand that LHRB = Left Hand Rear Brake.

Some people convert their Zeros that way. I think its a good idea for more control.

A electric Grom sounds like a good idea and could sustain the startup.

Zero engineers that I talked to were thinking about that, but I don't know if they were serious about it for production. The price point will be a challenge.

Lots of folks with bicycle and dirt backgrounds will understand LHRB and it's easily Google-able.

But I doubt there's a price point concern for a left hand rear brake. If it's done at production, the cost difference will be minimal, if any, and it can be an upgrade / option at purchase for a bit of additional revenue.

I ride an electric bike I don't know what that term is, but my bike has a clutch =/

I've always had my bicycles with a LHRB. It fucks up other folks if I let them ride my mtn bike...
Having the front brake lever on the right is how most folks in Europe have bikes set up. Perhaps it is too much for ordinary Americans.
