A rider was killed Friday afternoon on 101 in Morgan Hill:

Motorcyclist who died in crash on Highway 101 identified

MORGAN HILL — A 30-year-old Sunnyvale woman was killed in a collision with a semitrailer on Highway 101 near Morgan Hill on Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported about 2:20 p.m. in southbound lanes north of Cochrane Road.

The CHP said the motorcyclist — identified as Vanessa Rodriguez — was splitting lanes in a 2018 black Honda Rebel when she lost control and hit the left side of a 2015 Freightliner traveling 15 mph.​

RIP, Vanessa.
 
Wow, 15mph - just goes to show - any speed can lead to tragedy - a reminder for us all. Very sad.

My wife called me just a few minutes ago crying... horrified that her/ our daughters high school friend was killed. My wife actually knew Vanessa well from when she worked at the local Target and then onto the Lexus repair facility in SJ. :cry

She was sobbing I hate lanesplitting, why do you do this stuff Denny? (crying)

Tough place to be, but nothing compared where the Rodriguez Family is. My condolences to them and all her friends. :rose

Keep us posted on a memorial fund/ride/something we can do to support the family Dennis. By extension, we're all the family in some sort of way.
 
So sad. Condolences to family and friends. Such a giving person to be gone so soon. Losing the better ones hurts the most and leave the largest void.
