hey 600rr owners,

i just picked up a used RR and was wondering if anyone knew why there is a red rectangular bar on the LCD display near the gas reading when the the bike is in OFF position? thanks

go here jay.. www.600rr.net

THose kinda questions are not normally general discussion and should be in the garage section or the other forum. you have 979 posts. wow thats a lot.

600rr.net is mainly good for help with undertail and FE kits.

That "indicator" is garbage! I've run out of gas with 2 (black) bars left! POS!

Sounds like "your" indicator is garbage. I had an 03...never had a problem with the gas gauge.......I also work at a shop and have not hear of that problem once in the 3 years the bike has been on the market.....go to your local dealer.....before your warranty runs out!

Possibly... Then again i've heard other with similar problems. I've also had it work correctly. It's hit or miss with that thing, and no shop tech has the tools or the knowlege to recalibrate it. (According to Honda)

And, since you're talking about an 03', and I'm talking about an 05' there is the possibility they are different.

hahahah ok...im new to this 600rr so it was kind of strange. good to know this is normal..ill go ahead and check out 600rr.net

The red bar (low fuel indicator) is always on when the rr is off all the way up through the new models.

No worries.... it's normal.

IMHO... Do not rely on the fuel gauge.... get to know your mileage and range and always fuel up early. Nothing worse than runnin outa gas in the boonies!

will do fasteddie.. i used to just do a reset on tripmeter whenever i refilled on gas..unfortunately on this RR, the reset meter push button fell out of its place so i have to get the part and reattach it to the guages ...

Unfortunatly, this is a common problem. If you go to 600rr.net and do a little digging, you'll find a step by step on how to fix it. No need to go buy parts, because the part is still inside the display unit (it has just fallen off and is rattling around).

I have done this fix before and it is relitivly easy and it works.

I'll see if I can find the thread a little later.

Edit:
I searched and could not find it. I PM'd the originator of the thread and I'm waiting for a response. As soon as I get the info I will post (or PM) it.

thanks racingfreak. it looks pretty easy to fix just by looking at it. im thinking i just need to take off the windscreen to access the gauges, then remove the gauge cluster and take off screws from back. im hoping this will open up the face part of the gauge which will allow me to access the fallen part and reattach...

fyi, after taking off the rubber button, i saw that the part was just floating around in the cluster hehe
