Good Morning BARF,

I am here to tell you an incredible story. Meet Zach (lilbuddy) Lee and Graham (el presidente) French. These 2 youngsters are attempting something some people would call stupid, but most call it awesome. They have been riding their mopeds, yes that’s right mopeds, not motorcycles or dirt-bikes but mopeds all through South America. They left on January 5th and have already made it to Peru. Their goal is to make it all the way to Tierra Del Feugo, the southern most tip of Chile.

So far the have been robbed, arrested, stranded, arrested, blown 4 piston rings, arrested, gone though 3 clutches (one made of coconut husk I’m not kidding), had their frames re-welded countless times, and through all this they still ride into the night. At this point their bikes are more jb-weld than metal. Their exhaust stingers are coke cans, their frames are made of rusted iron, they are living off bread and mangos and they still have shit eating grins on their faces.

Now i know some of you guys think we are a bunch of emo scooter fags, but you gotta respect 15k on 50cc's. These boys are the real thing.

Let me give you a little history about how this journey came about. Graham and Lee are part of a moped gang in San Francisco called, The Creatures of the Loin . The Creatures are a branch of a national organization called moped army . This is a website that connects all the branches throughout the country. The Moped Army holds rally’s every year in different cities and hundreds of mopeds swarm to wrench on their bikes, get drunk and spread the 100+MPG love.

So why mopeds? They are cheap, you can work on them with a 10$ tool kit, they get over 100MPG, they have very very lax registration laws (some states don’t even require licenses), you can park them anywhere and oh yeah, they are shit tons of fun to ride. Graham and Lee are HEROS of the moped community. They are breaking the world record for the longest moped trip in history. Right now the record is 11,500 miles and was done in Canada and Alaska . Leatherfoot Trail

Our boys are going to break that record. We wont know the total mileage until they finish but we are expecting around 15,000 miles. On a frikkin moped. Right now they are in Peru. They are 1 country away from the home stretch but they have spent a lot more money than they expected and do not have enough to come back, just enough to make it there.

So basically this post is asking for a little help. Just a dollar or 2 makes the world of difference. Be a part of history and help us bring these crazy mofos home. The goal is to fly them back to America, they will hop on their bikes and ride to Kalamazoo, Michigan which is where the biggest moped rally is held. Last year there were 150 mopeders!

So we set up a paypal drive for these guys. Feel free to post this on other message boards and websites where you think it would get a positive response. Even if only one person from that site donates 5$ it will make a difference. Check out the links below to read about their journey and check out some of the crazy pics.
Please send donations to this email..

There's a scooter club in Peru you should meet up with, they'd probably help you out. They're called Shining Path. Friendly folks.

First off, let me commend those guys on what they're doing. That many miles on a scooter takes alot of heart, alot of stupidity or a little bit of both.

But c'mon, a moped gang? Any particular reason why you guys call yourself a gang? That's a little like saying 'tall asian' or something, isn't it?

Gang = An identifiable group of people (highly organized or loosely structured) who form an alliance for a common purpose which identifies with or claims territory in the community. Members engage either individually or collectively in antisocial or unlawful activity/activities.

yeah that sums it up. We are not a club.

I dont want to argue about it with you guys. we have been down that path. We agree to disagree. this post is for graham and lee, not me.

I think that I'd rather just nominate them for possible qualification into the Darwin Awards. :p :twofinger

I think what they are doing is pretty cool, pretty stupid but cool.

riding your ped' from oakland to san jose is an amazing feat
but riding all the way to argentina...dam dude ... im sending 5bucks even thou im in between jobs right now.

Peru!??

when i read that they got stuck in Peru, i thought they had encountered one of them 3 foot deep pot holes and got stuck! or they had hit a cow that way "jaywalking"... aah, the fond memories! :teeth

shinning path :laughing
you guys crack me up!

One question: people that do stuff like this...don't they have jobs, or school, or something that they need to do?

Must be nice being able to just not work for a few months.

PM SaturnTech aka grandmastershake. I think he's had several encounters with your group and would be MORE than happy to send you guys a nice donation. :thumbup :teeth

That's an honest adventure, one that they will always remember. Hats off to those guys. Funny I'm saying this about guys on scooters...but that's hardcore!

sweet i will see if i can contact them.

BTW, in case you did not know already, do not do this. Shining path is a revolutionary group in Peru. Don't think that they would take lightly to a couple of white boys asking questions. I hope that your friends make it. Even if they don't, sounds like a great story to tell to thier kids.

LMMFAO :laughing :laughing :laughing

The biggest rally had 150 mopeders?!? HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!

:laughing :laughing :laughing

-edit-

by the way, i do hope your friends make it, but anyone who's dumb enough to go somewhere that far with absolutely no fucking idea or plan as to how to get back is not going to get a lot of sympathy from me.

Often wondered about that. Guess they're not pager-carrying sysadmins.

It's mopeds...most people wouldn't ride them a very long distance to a rally...would you? I think 150 in attendance is a very respectable number.

As far as no idea, no plans, well, that's what makes it exciting right?
