Today was my first trackday, first experience at Stockton, and first really hard riding since getting the 17s swapped onto my DRZ. Good times.

Our wonderful host Dion at lunchtime

CELEBRITY SIGHTING!

Gearing up? (note the leathers, borrowed from a chick:twofinger)

Then, he took my boots. And my bike.

One of the better shots I took today. Cute goggles, L (again, female-borrowed:twofinger)!

Interlude: Liam is cool as fuck, and it was a pleasure to let him take my DRZ for a spin. He layed it down, but the wonderful thing about 'tards is that you just pick it up and keep riding. Liam hooked me up with some stickers and stuff. Good times all around.

Ok, back to some pics. Lets see the future!

In front, Elena. Trailing her, a ridiculously fast little guy #990 (anybody know the name?)

More fast kid:

:laughing Mike, you're killing me! :toothless

Nice meeting you today and I can't wait to lap you at the next supermoto trackday! :thumbup

just kidding, i'm too slow. /shrug

Look! That guy's wearing Pink Googles!

Mike,

That was great! Thanks for loaning me your bike and your boots. I don't remember the name of the super cool girl who loaned me her leathers (apparently I'm a size 6/8), her helmet and her googles, too, but special thanks to her as well! Everything fit almost just right (some masculine constraints notwithstanding) and once on the bike, I never gave the gear a second thought. I didn't think I'd feel that rusty out there, but time away from the track really kept me from finding my groove in most of the corners, and the plush front end made it difficult to transition quickly for me, but overall, it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday - Sliding the rear over and over again! It felt really good to just hang out at the track again, with no pressure to get anything done, no pressure to impress the media or the sponsors, no pressure to do anything but relax and have a great time with my friends. I haven't ridden Stockton in two years (two summer's ago I broke a bone in my wrist in the fast corner) but while times have changed (a week ago I was working the USGP), the ambience, friendship, and comraderie that I knew in the Supermoto and Mini scene is still in place. Home is definitely where the heart is, and all you guys really helped make today a fantastic time. Thanks everyone for being so friendly and welcoming, and sharing your kick-ass SM Hooligans trackday with me! Pics of my "bobble" HERE.

Heh - I think I win the award for the slowest but I don't care. I had an *awesome* time, met a lot of very cool people, and saw some incredible riding! Maybe next time I will be a little faster. I must say that I am totally hooked!

Thanks to Dion :love for letting me help. What a kick-ass event! You rock, honey!

And thanks to Val for letting me ride one of his bikes :thumbup

Nursing a bit of a sun burn and sore limbs but it was all worth it. I can't wait to do it all again!

No worries on being slow; I was right there behind you! :thumbup Maybe we can team up at the next trackday & roadblock so no one will be able to pass either of us in the chicane! :laughing :cry :laughing

I'm a bit sore too, but I can't figure out if some parts are sore because of water polo/cannonballs at OFG's or because of the trackday. ;)

I'll just have to sign up for the next one! :teeth

Fortunately I plan on this being a temporary problem and soon enough I will be doing some passing of my own!
