I just wanted to know if anyone else got a little choked up seeing Gary back on the grid.. I gotta say even with all his ups & downs Gary is (IMHO) awesome. Down to earth attitude, balls out riding style, fearless (even when he's way F'ed up), passionate and up beat ( winning or losing).. I guess for me, Gary just seems to embody all the qualities of what a sports hero should be. I know he's past his so called prime. I'm awake to the fact that he's been givin the "underdog" stamp of approval, but he can still hang. I'm in my 30's, a little out of shape, a bit slower than I used to be, I got a few more lumps and bumps,but I aint done yet, and seeing him out on that grid made me feel like I can still hang as well..

I hope Ilmor gives him the X-3 ride for next year. It does my heart good to see the little engine that could.. Long live the Slide King !

only guy ive found to be as exciting on the track was Elias in this last race. If Elias continues this crazy style of riding and McCoy comes in next year... we will have some of the BEST, most visually exciting races ever seen!
 
Sounds like Barros is getting that ride...maybe they will field 2 riders if someone steps in with sponsorship...

Where the hell are the global corps in the whole MotoGP sponsorship game?

Where is the Coke Honda Team? WHere is the Pepsi Kawasaki ZX-RR? Where is the XBOX360 Yamahas? Where are the Corona Extra Suzukis?
Where are the General Motors Ilmors? Where are the Ford Motors Yamahas...

Geeze, some companies are REALLY dropping the world advertising ball on MotoGP...

REally? All you can get are cigarettes and Telecommunications? Really?

You gotta remember that its primarily a european sport - and from what I've seen, cigarette and telcom companies are the big business over there.

They probably think that its fucking rediculous to have home improvement outlets sponsoring race teams.
 
McCoy rules - guy has had every reason to quit and he comes back and back and back. Hell, the BIKE quits and he figures it out and comes back out. F@ck yeah!

Mercedes Ilmor maybe, but they have an F1 team. Why would a car maker bother sponsoring a motorcycle when they have a dozen series dedicated to selling their vehicles already?

The region is bigger than that....you forgot about Asia. There's plenty of companies, like Sony, Panasonic, BASF, BP, etc...Why they choose not to sponsor, who knows. But its something that MotoGP has been struggling with for several years.
 
Ah... I was linked to that article from Wikipedia, where it said he was confirmed for 2007. I read it on the internet, so it must be true...
 
Ilmor has said they will have two seats for the 2007 GP. I've also read Gary is in good with Eskil Suter (the chassis builder) as well.. Fingers crossed !
